Howto make History Bigger ?

ik wil graag een grotere History in het terminal venster.

Nu vond ik :

    s Both of these problems stem from only writing history lines to disk when a shell exits
    s The solution is to append each line to the history individually
    s Specify this in .bashrc
          q Make Bash append rather than overwrite the history on disk:
             shopt -s histappend
          q Whenever displaying the prompt, write the previous line to disk:
             PROMPT_COMMAND=’history -a’
    s A new shell gets the history lines from all previous shells

.bahrc kan je gebruiken. .bash_profile kan denk ik ook, maakt niet zoveel uit.
Die bestanden staan gewoon in je home map, en kan je zichtbaar maken in Nautilus doorop control-h te drukken, of door in de menu's verborgen bestanden weergeven aan te zetten.

Heb .bashrc gevonden en shopt -s histappend
ingevoegd MAAR nu piept ie bij opstaten terminal

bash: shopt-s : command not found

Ligt dat aan Ubuntu distro of ?
