Webcam ????

Canorma geeft: "could not connect to video device /dev/video0 please check connection

. .bedankt hoor.

Hallo

In je eerste lsusb duikt dit op;
0402:5603 ALi Corp. USB 2.0 Q-tec Webcam 300

staat van development. Daarbij moet je vrij moeizaam ongeveer volgens deze handleiding;

http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=5055135&postcount=6

Zelf gaan compilen en volgens een klein  ;) stukje uit hun README_INSTALLATION;
INSTALLATION OVERVIEW
=====================

This driver is a subdriver for the gspcav2 project.
It cannot work without gspvav2.

-download v4l-dvb, the project contains gspcav2.
-add m5603c subdriver source.
-compile/install minimal kernel modules for your running kernel
-extract from your windows driver the microcode and install it
 C10H0110.bin,S10H0110.csr
-load kernel modules
-compile support v4l2 libraries

Test!

INSTALLATION DETAILS
====================
1) Since the v4l-dvb move to GIT, it is impossible to do simple things,
    like compilation of a single module (at lest for me). Hopefully, a
    backport (V4L/DVB backports repository) of v4l-dvb is generated.
    From the page:
    http://www.linuxtv.org/hg
    download 'v4l-dvb.gz',untar them in the same subdirectory.

2) Add the m5603c subdriver to v4l-dvb tree.

    move to./v4l-dvb/linux/driver/media/video/gspca

    create m5603c and copy all files from subdriver in it.
    Edit Makefile to reference m5603c
obj-$(CONFIG_USB_M5602)         += m5602/
    ++> obj-$(CONFIG_USB_M5603C)        += m5603c/ <++

    Edit Kconfig same way
source "drivers/media/video/gspca/m5602/Kconfig"
    ++> source "drivers/media/video/gspca/m5603c/Kconfig"  <++

3) Compile minimal source from v4l-dvb; 300 modules, 5 required!
    Deselect everything except gspca/m5603c
    cd ./v4l-dvb/v4l
    make menuconfig
    Since a lot of modules are still compiled, you can edit .config
    to remove them (see .config in appendix)

    cd ./v4l-dvb
    make
    make install

    List of kernel modules files installed:
    in /lib/modules/${KVERS}/kernel/drivers/media/video/
gspca/gspca_main.ko
gspca/m5603c/gspca_m5603c.ko
v4l2-common.ko
v4l2-int-device.ko
videodev.ko

    plus some useless firmware

4) You must install the support files from your webcam window driver
    in the /lib/firmware directory.

    You can find them in your windows installation.
    They are usually named
    C10F0110.bin
    C10H0110.bin *
    S10F0110.csr
    S10H0110.csr *

    * H:high usb2 speed, required
      F:low speed usb1 not required

    c:\Windows\Options\Install
    is a good place to look at first.

    The kernel module have options to specify the filenames.
    See "man modprobe", option -C for details
    Options are:

    modprobe gspca_m5603c csr_filename=foo1 bin_filename=foo2

    The sourceforge repository have some .bin and .csr that
    you can try. See in firmware dir.

5)  v4l-dvb use apps preparation:

    Now load newly installed modules.
    depmod -a
    modprobe videodev
    modprobe gspca_main
    modprobe gspca_m5603c #debug=X csr_filename=foo1 bin_filename=foo2

    Watch kernel log at each step.

kernel: gspca: main v2.9.0 registered
kernel: gspca: probing 0402:5603

6) Test using the utility pixfmt-test

    git clone git://linuxtv.org/v4l-utils.git v4l-utils
    cd v4l-utils/lib
    make
    make install PREFIX=/usr

    cd v4l-utils/contrib/test
    make
    ./pixfmt-test
    launch an 'xconsole&' before, to see logs.

TODO
====

Discover ALi m5603c chip to really use it ;-)
For now, it is just another stupid chip totally
under-used giving a poor image of its creator...
ALi, you provide a bad image, in all sense ;-)

Add video control (color, hue, blacklevel, ...)
if possible from sensor datasheets.

Add VFLIP/HFLIP for mt9v011 mt9v111.

Better understand/use/simplify each sensor 'clocktables'

Some other sensors are nearly ok to be added. The bridge
code lists them. If you have this duo (M5603c+sensor listed)
tell me.

BUGS
====

"ekiga" alone use a big video buffer and segfault.
"LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so ekiga" is fine.

Lots of other imaging tools need the v4l1compat preload hack.
This will probably be fixed in the future.
