$sudo apt-get update
$sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx
(already newest version)
$sudo depmod -a
$sudo aticonfig --initial

Unitialised file found, configuring.
Using xorg.conf
$sudo aticonfig --overlay-type=Xv
Warning: Option 'VideoOverlay' doesn't affect running session.
Warning: Option 'OpenGLOverlay' doesn't affect running session.
Using /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Saved back-up to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.fglrx-0

Toegevoegd aan xorg.conf:

Section "Extensions"
        Option      "Composite" "0"
EndSection

[Howto:]Confirm it worked, by issuing the "fglrxinfo" command:

$fglrxinfo
display: 0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Tungsten Graphics, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Radeon 20060327 AGP 1x NO-TCL
OpenGL version strng: 1.2 (1.3 Mesa 6.5.1)

[Howto:]If fglrxinfo gives you the following, your installation is not completed correctly:

display: :0.0  screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.4.1)

Dus na mijn idee niet helemaal correct.

[Howto:]
In this case, watch for these things:

    *

As fglrx is proprietary, just like many other proprietary software you might want to try to reboot your machine.
    *

      Make sure that the resctricted-modules package installed correspond to the kernel your are running and that you can load the fglrx driver, either by issuing the command "sudo modprobe fglrx" or by verifying that the module appears in the list of loaded modules, by issuing the command "lsmod";
    *

      It may be necessary to establish a symbolic link for the /usr/lib/dri folder, by issuing the following command: "sudo ln -s /usr/lib/dri /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri";
    *

      You may have to unload the radeon and dri modules, by issuing "sudo rmmod radeon" and "sudo rmmod dri";
    *

Make sure you unload the module ati-agp by issuing "sudo rmmod ati-agp" and blacklist it in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.

Allemaal gedaan, zonder resultaat... :/

gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

TV-out: fglrx
Hardwareversnelling: fglrx 3x sneller dan radeon+dri
open source: radeon+dri
