Gaming op Ubuntu??

Oke, ik gooi maar eens een balletje op.
Ik heb gezocht op het forum maar kan geen bevredigend antwoord vinden, wie oh wie helpt mij?

Ik ben een verwoed gamer.
Tot mijn frustratie heb ik tot nog toe geen spel aan de praat gekregen.

draait niet via wine op linux vanwege safedisc checks; eind september is Wine begonnen met het implementeren van safedisc ondersteuning, dus het is goed mogelijk dat het binnenkort wel zal draaien op linux, maar mogelijk niet 100% hetzelfde in windows omdat dit spel via een windows wrapper draait

maar: met cedega werkt het momenteel prima, en battlefield 1942 wordt officieel ondersteund door cedega (cedega is een fork van wine, dus het gebruikt technologie van wine, maar is een beetje vercommercialiseerd en is enkel gericht op games)

dit is maar ter info, kies een spel uit en dan gaan we proberen om dat eerst te installeren, ik heb hier enkel ut2004, dus daar kan ik je waarschijnlijk het beste mee helpen (eigenlijk ook niet, want mijn DVD-station is kapot maar goed.. choose a game)

Laten we beginnen met quake3, niet mń favoriet maar wel de kleinste van het stel (bovendien heb ik ut2004 uitgeleend).
Laat ik even melden dat ik het al geprobeerd heb te installeren via instructies van deze link:

Alles gaat vlekkeloos maar bij het opstarten krijg ik een zwart beeld met knipperende cursor waarna Ubuntu opnieuw opstart.

Adviezen?

probeer dan eens de game :nexuiz, zie de gametopic in de offtopic sectie van dit forum. het spel is eenvoudig te installen.

Overigens, als je de how-to op de wiki had gevolgd had je daar het volgende in kunnen lezen:

By default Composite is turned on and this will prevent OpenGL from working. The above stanza simply turns Composite off. These steps are probably only needed for the *legacy* driver.

Er staat dat dit wellicht alleen nodig is voor de legacy (de oude) driver maargoed, naar het schijnt zou dit bij jou ook wel het een en ander kunnen fixen.

Printfps van glxgears is niet echt heel erg betrouwbaar hoor.. ik heb het volgende:

624 frames in 5.0 seconds = 124.606 FPS
625 frames in 5.0 seconds = 124.992 FPS

625 frames in 5.0 seconds = 124.992 FPS

droevig? nee, want ik draai Quake3 met gemak, en als server/client (quaken samen met mijn vriendin is grappig ) en nog wat andere games (zoals nexius) die draaien allemaal rete strak dus echt veel zegt die fps niet... je weet dan alleen wel dat opengl het doet en dat doet het bij jou zo te zien... tja, dan zal er iets niet goed ingesteld staan bij quake...wat dat weet ik zo 1-2-3 niet
