Hallo,

Ik heb ubuntu 9.10 (karmic) geinstalleerd op mijn computer.
Daarop heb ik MythTV geinstalleerd volgens deze beschrijving.

Nu loop ik vast op het punt. Log in Automaticlly.

Ik begrijp hier uit dat die regels toegevoegt moeten worden in gdm.conf
Als ik dit ingeef: gksudo gedit /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom
Dan krijg ik in gedit een leeg blad te zien. En als ik door mijn mappen blader kan ik het niet vinden op de opgegeven plaats. En ook met zoeken kan ik het niet vinden.

Hoe moet ik nu verder. Ik wil graag dat als ik de computer aanzet automatisch inlog en dat MythTV frontend start

Kan iemand dat voor mij uitleggen. Ik ben nog maar een beginner met linux.

Ik krijg met gksudo gedit /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom dit te zien:

Ik heb ook nog even gekeken op mijn andere computer. (8.04 Hardy) Daar krijg ik dat wel te zien.
Maar in 9.10 niet.

Ik heb 9.10 geinstalleerd omdat ik met 8.04 mijn TV out niet werkent krijg.

Is er nog een andere oplossing om het werkent te krijgen?

Kijk eens met Nautilus of er in de map /etc/gdm/ de file  gdm.conf-custom  wel bestaat/aanwezig is.
Zo niet moet je deze zelf aan maken, je kan de tekst zo van mij overnemen.
En dan onder [demon] deze regels plaatsen zoals op de site staat.

AutomaticLogin=mythtv

Het bestand bestaat niet.
Heb het nu aangemaakt en de tekst van jou overgenomen. En de twee regles onder demon toegevoegt.

Heb de computer opnieuw opgestart en hij logt niet automatisch in.
Ik krijg gewoon weer het normale inlog scherm.

Ik neem aan dat je de file gemaakt een opgeslagen hebt met gksudo.
Heb je ook het gdm-restart commando uitgevoerd?

Ook het bestand gdm.conf bestaat niet op die plaats /etc/gdm/

Ik neem aan dat je de file gemaakt een opgeslagen hebt met gksudo.
Heb je ook het gdm-restart commando uitgevoerd?

Dat opslaan had ik gedaan. Alleen als ik gdm-restart invoer komt de melding not supported.

Start de computer eens helemaal opnieuw op, of had je dit al gedaan?

Dat had ik al een keer gedaan.

Ook voor een reboot en sutdown moet ik mijn root password ingeven.
Daar wil ik ook nog een keer van af.

Sorry, we beginnen even over nieuw, ik zat eerst op 8.10 en dat is toch heel anders dan 9.10.
Oke daar gaat ie:

Open de terminal en type gksudo cp /usr/share/doc/gdm/examples/custom.conf /etc/gdm/
Nu staat er een custom.conf file in /etc/gdm de eerdere file gdm.conf-custom verwijderen.
Type nu gksudo gedit /etc/gdm/custom.conf
Plaats de tekst
[daemon]
AutomaticLoginEnable=true
AutomaticLogin=mythtv hierin.
Start opnieuw op, lukt het nu wel?
Even een vraagje, kan je niet beter Mythbuntu gebruiken?

Ik weet niet of het verstandig is wat ik nu gedaan heb.
Maar ik heb nu bij mijn eigen account bij system/administration/loginscreen aangegeven om automatiesch in te loggen.
En bij system/preferences/start applications heb ik mythfrontend toegevoegt.
Als ik nu opstart logt hij automatisch in en word mythtv gestart.

Of is het beter / verstandiger om het anders to doen?

Even een vraagje, kan je niet beter Mythubuntu gebruiken?

Bij het testen met mythbuntu greeg ik mijn afstands bediening niet werkent. En in ubuntu wertk hij meteen zonder problemen.

Het probleem met automatisch inloggen is dat je geen goede beveiliging hebt.
Hoe je dit beter kan beveiligen weet ik niet, iemand anders?
Het enige wat ik weet is, toch je login te blijven gebruiken ook voor myth, deze toevoegen als gebruiker.
Laat nog even weten of je verder bent gekomen met Myth, bij mij lukte het om 1 kanaal in te stellen verder kwam ik niet, ik heb wel tvtime, alleen iets opnemen lukt me niet. Ben benieuwd of jij het er beter afbrengt. Succes.

Het is bij mij handig om automatisch in te loggen, anders heb ik elke keer een toestsenbord nodig.
Want het lukt mij nu om mythtv met mijn afstandsbediening te bedienen.

Is het dan verstandiger om een ander root wachtwoord aan te maken?

Ik ga myth alleen gebruiken om lokaal muziek, films, en fotos te bebijken.
Voor internet streams blijf ik gewoon firefox gebruiken.
Doordat de nederlandse omroepen alles maar blijven veranderen moet je steeds een hoop moeite doen om het werkend te houden.
