wacom knoppen omdraaien in 9.04 (OPGELOST)

Hallo lui,

heeeeel lang niet hier geweest, heeft ermee te maken dat Ubuntu het eigenlijk altijd gewoon doet, en ik sinds 8.04 niet geupgrade had....

Ik heb net 9.04 geintstalleerd, (eindelijk werkt mijn wireless zoals het hoort, verder lijkt alles ook weer goed te werken) maar nu kan ik de knoppen niet meer omdraaien op mijn wacom tablet.

Ik heb gelezen dat je nu een "custom_wacom.fdi" in /etc/hal/fdi/policy moet aanmaken.

Heb ik gedaan, en dit is wat er in staat. Maar na herstarten "werkt het niet". Ik heb wat rond lopen zoeken, en dit is het enige concrete wat ik kan vinden.

In een ver verleden wel even hier mee gespeeld, op moment staat alles trouwens default.
Ik heb toen (in 8.04) mbv. van synaptic de wacom-tools geinstalleerd.
Met name met xsetwacom kun je het 1 en ander veranderen, kijk even hier ;

ja weet ik, maar in 8.04 kon je ook alles rechtstreeks in xorg regelen. Dat was minder omslachtig dan xsetwacom leren. (in 7.10 kon je zowat alles via xorg regelen en stond xorg helemaal vol, nu is xorg bijna helemaal leeg!!)
Bij 8.10 hebben ze (dacht ik) de wacom eigenschappen uit xorg gehaald zodat je kon hotpluggen (kabel eruit en terug in de usb poort steken en je hoeft niet de xserver opnieuw op te starten)

In 9.04 heb je ook hotpluggen, maar ik heb de oplossing al.
de oplossing was een "custom_wacom.fdi" bestand plaatsen in /etc/hal/fdi/policy, met hetzelfde stukje tekst als in mijn eerste post, maar dan  ipv "info.category" staat er nu "info.capabilities"

Waarschijnlijk kan dit ook door ipv een extra custom_wacom.fdi bestand aan te maken, deze regels toe te voegen ergens in  usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/10-wacom.fdi"

Kaihsu Tai, the fdi file doesn't need to exist in /etc/hal/fdi/policy/, there's already one in /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/ installed by the package xserver-xorg-input-wacom and it should already be enough for the stylus (unless you're affected by a bug in the 0.8.1.4 wacom drivers, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom Option A).

The /etc/hal/fdi/policy/ is the place to copy it if you want to edit your stylus options (see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom.fdi ).

However, you only get stylus. If you want to get the eraser, cursor, pad... you need to edit your xorg.conf as in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom option B) and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WacomTroubleshooting ).

Come to the forum if you have questions.

However, part of your bug report is still true - there need to be a solution for eraser/cursor/etc, but that's not possible at the moment (adding the lines in the .fdi file won't work). Hopefully it can be solved for Jaunty (see the discussion there : https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-x/2008-November/000243.html and there : https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel-discuss/2008-November/006205.html ).

I had a look at your xorg.conf, and it's not a "default" one since apparently you upgraded. Remove the # (only one) at the beginning of the lines concerning wacom sections (stylus, eraser, cursor) and the ones concerning the same devices in "ServerLayout". But make sure you make sure you make a copy of your xorg.conf and can either copy it under a command line (CTRL-ALT-F1) or boot on a live CD, mount the / partition and copy it from there.

Hoe dan ook, mijn probleem is opgelost.
