ubuntu 8.10 server en de sources.list: problemen met update

ik heb pas ubuntu 8.10 server geinstalleerd (vanaf gedownloade cd).
wanneer ik na de installatie wil updaten met  apt-get update krijg ik een 'probleem output' op het (tekst)scherm:

n.b.: ook bij het willen installeren, van b.v. gedit, krijg ik soortgelijke probleem-output...

ik denk dat de sources.list verouderd is en niet 'de weg wijst' naar de te downloaden bestanden.
hoe vind ik een goede actuele lijst?

Misschien een domme vraag, maar heb je wel internetverbinding? Want uit de output lijkt het erop van niet.

goed van jou 
bij het installeren was er een dhcp verbinding tot stand gekomen (via een router)
na de installatie had ik in network/interfaces dit gewijzigd naar een vast ip nummer (omdat het om een server gaat, en dit 'moest').
daarnet even terugveranderd in dynamisch (in network/interfaces) en even wat geprobeerd te na-installeren (lynx) en het werkt nu dus wel.
