Updatemanager werkt niet meer

Ik ben nieuw op dit forum en sinds 4 maanden in het gelukkige bezit van Ubuntu. Met redelijk wat computer- en softwarekennis lukt het prima om alles werkend te krijgen en te houden.
Een geweldig feest zo zonder de handel van Heer Gates. (Heel soms moet het nog wel eens, bijvoorbeeld de On Route  routeplanner, die werkt zelfs niet onder Wine, maar daar gaat het hier niet om)

Na wat  gezoek en geexperimenteer met een printerdriver wil de updatemanager niet meer meewerken en ik krijg de volgende mededeling:


Kon niet alle pakketbronindices downloaden

De pakketbron is mogelijk niet meer beschikbaar of kon niet bereikt worden vanwege netwerkproblemen. Een eventueel beschikbare oudere versie van de mislukte index zal gebruikt worden. Anders zal de pakketbron worden genegeerd. Controleer uw netwerkverbinding en verzeker u ervan dat het adres van de pakketbron in de voorkeuren goed is ingesteld.

Ophalen van http://repoubuntusoftware.info/dists/harty/all/binary-i386/Packages.gz 302 Found is mislukt
Ophalen van sommige indexbestanden is mislukt, deze zijn of genegeerd, of er zijn oudere versies van gebruikt.


Dit alles met gebruik van 8.10 (Intreped Ibex)
Wie helpt mij dit raadsel oplossen

Open een terminal en tik in:

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.listZoek naar de pakketbron waar dit  http://repoubuntusoftware.info/dists/harty/all/binary-i386/Packages.gz  (of een deel ervan) instaat en verwijder deze.
Sla op en sluit af. Als je die link aanklikt kom je dus nergens. Is er een programma of iets anders dat je gedownload hebt en geinstalleerd?

Als je zoekt via google met: 'repoubuntusoftware.info'  vind je het één en ander hierover.

Trouwens, de website http://repoubuntusoftware.info is offline. Geen wonder dat 'ie niet werkt. Ga naar Systeem>Beheer>Softwarebronnen, tabblad Software van Derden, en zet deze repo uit.

Een goede raad: gebruik Ultamatix niet! Je kunt je systeem ermee verzieken, en het programma voegt niets toe aan het Installeren/Verwijderen-systeem van Ubuntu.

hartelijk dank voor de snelle ondersteuning.

Ultramatix verbannen uit mijn computer.
Nieuwe sources.list aangebracht

Het lijkt allemaal weer in orde.

Het weekend nog eens grondig testen en uitzoeken wat ik aan moet met
sources.list.d
Die schijnt nu leeg te blijven en ook updates kreeg in vannacht nog niet.

Eerst maar eens een dagje werken en dan zien we weer verder

Nogmaals dank en ik laat weten hoe het afloopt

Ultamatix! Daar hebben we dat akelige semi-virus weer.... Een totaal verrot systeem als gevolg. Het zoveelste slachtoffer.

Er zit niks anders op: Ubuntu volledig opnieuw installeren. Via een schone installatie, dus met formatteren en al. Je kunt Ultamatix nu wel hebben verwijderd, maar dat is niet genoeg. De schade is onomkeerbaar.

Ik kan d'r niks anders van maken

Iedereen maakt fouten, dat hoort erbij, zeker in het begin. Daar hoef je jezelf dus niet voor af te straffen. Het woord "stom" vind ik dan ook niet terecht. Zolang als je maar leert van je fouten, is er niet veel aan de hand, toch?

Een volledige herinstallatie plus afwerking achteraf kost je een paar uur, maar dan is alles weer tiptop in orde.  :-)
