Installatie 8.04 lukt niet

Hallo,
Ik ben al een tijd bezig om 8.04 te installeren maar dit gaat steeds fout. Eerst ben ik met de live cd bezig geweest maar hier krijg ik geen muis op het scherm.
Ik heb de cd gecontroleerd op fouten maar deze worden niet gevonden. Ook heb ik al een installatie gedaan zonder grafische omgeving. Dit gaat ook fout. Ik heb zelf het idee dat de combinatie van mijn hardware het probleem is.
Ik heb een AMD Athlon 64 proc. 3500+, een MS-7100 (MSI) motherboard en een GEFORCE 6600 Le grafische kaart.
Is er een mogelijkheid om te zien welke fout melding er wordt gegenereerd zodat ik hieop aktie kan ondernemen.

We weten nu wel wat er in je PC zit, heel goed. Maar wat is het merk van je PC en het type?

Merk is niet echt belangrijk in deze, want tis een clone pc en we weten nu wat erin zit.

Wat heel belangrijk is zou de foutmelding zijn en of wat er gebeurt, dus een omschrijving wat er precies fout gaat.

Vaak kan dit een instelling zijn van de bios waardoor Ubuntu de zaken verkeerd begrijpt.
Het kan ook zijn dat je teveel USB apparaten in de pc hebt zitten bij de installatie.
Trek er dus zoveel mogelijk uit, vermoedelijk is je muis ook USB dus kan je deze erin laten zitten.
Mocht die dan nog niet werken moet je het verloop stekkertje gebruiken van USB naar PS2 wat erbij zat toen je hem kocht.

Volgende Tip voer je alsvolgt uit:

* Stop de live CD in je pc.
* Druk na invoeren van je Land op de F6 toets.
er verschijnt nu een text regel waarachter je dit moet invullen:
all_generic_ide floppy=off irqpollhierna druk je op enter en start de live cd een Ubuntu sessie op.

@ Gandyman,
Muis e toetsenbord zijn nog ps2 verder geen usb aangesloten. Ook met F6 en regel start hij op maar geen muis. Als je de linker muistoets indrukt zie je wel een klein puntje waar de muis zich moet bevinden. Is er niet een manier om te zien waar de installatie op fout loopt. Ik denk zelf aan de videokaart omdat voordat de drivers geladen zijn de beeld resolutie niet klopt. Ik heb dit probleem ook met de oudere ubuntu versie. Uit pure ergenis heb ik nog geprobeerd om Susu 11 te installeren maar dit geeft hetzelfde resultaat, ook geen muis.
Als ik de definitieve installatie ga doen loopt ubuntu ,zonder errormelding, altijd op hetzelfde punt vast. Ps op een veel ouder pentium 2 werkt de installatie echter wel. Wie helpt mij

Ik vind van wel, want dan kunnen we het model opzoeken of Ubuntu er uberhaupt wel mee zou kunnen werken.

neuh totaal niet belangrijk want je kan per onderdeel bekijken of die Linux compatible zijn.
En nogmaals, daar komt bij dat het een clone pc is, dus er is geen merk, en dan ???

Dus hij boot van de live-cd en na het opstarten zie je geen muis maar wel alle andee zaken ??

Op welk punt loopt hij vast tijdens de installatie ???
Heb je de memtest al gedaan als je van de live-cd boot ???

Ik denk toch dat er iets ingesteld staat in de bios wat deze fout veroorzaakt, dat msi mobo zou moeten werken.

In het uiterste geval zou je de harddisk ff in die andere pc kunnen stoppen,
Ubuntu erop installeren en daarna terug plaatssen in de orginele pc.

BTW Welke versie Ubuntu probeer je op die pc te installeren ??
64 of 32 bit ?
speciaal AMD of e i386 versie ?

Ik zie geen muis maar wel de mappen. Ik heb verschillende HD's geprobeerd, sata als ide maakt niet uit. Het gaat over de 32 bits versie. Als ik de hardware test doe dan gaat het fout bij de video SMPTE test, ik zie geen patroon. Ook bij de muis test gaat het fout.
Als ik echt ga installeren loopt de installatie op ongeveer 80% vast.
Ik heb de messages  uit de "live"installatie gehaald misschien kan je hier iets mee.

Heb je het al geprobeerd met bijv. de vorige LTS versie Dapper Drake ??
Klinkt maf maar zie steeds meer mensen die ff terug grijpen naar een oudere Kernel om problemen te overkomen en dan achteraf updaten naar de nieuwere kernel.

Heb ik al geprobeerd echter geen oplossing. Is er een mogelijkheid om bij het installeren een logging aan te zetten zodat je precies kan zien waar het fout gaat.

Dit is geen zelfbouw pc maar gewoon een pc bij de computer handel gekocht.Windows wekt wel goed zonder problemen. Ubuntu moet dat toch ook moeten werken. Iemand nog een idee?

Tuurlijk heb je ook zelfbouw pc's, maar je kan ervan uit gaan dat de meeste mensen geen zelfbouw pc gebruiken. Zeg me maar als ik fout zit hoor overigens. En tuurlijk kan je per onderdeel wel gaan opzoeken of het Linux-compatible is, maar als het geen zelfbouw pc is, is het makkelijker om in 1 keer de hele pc op te zoeken of ie wel werkt met Linux.

Met F4 veilige modus lijkt de installatie wel te lukken. Nu maar kijken welke driver of hardware er voor de problemen verantwoordelijk is. Wel vreemd dat dit niet uit de logfiles is te halen.

Drivers zijn in principe geen probleem op dit systeem. Ik draai zelf volledig probleemloos de 64-bit uitvoering, op een vergelijkbare processor (2.2 GHz Athlon64 3400+ Venice, socket 939) en hetzelfde merk moederbord. De videokaart van dat systeem is een GeForce 6200 SE Turbocache.

Wat ik aanraad is het gebruiken van de 64-bit versie, daarmee heb ik zelf al meerdere probleemloze installaties gehad op zowel een Athlon64 als een Turion64 X2 systeem. "32-bits is leuk voor Intel", is de vuistregel die ikzelf altijd voor de zekerheid aanhoudt.
