ik heb dus een Nvidia geforce 7300gs geplaatst in mijn systeem. De Nvidia driver is ook al gelukt om te installeren.
Nu komt mijn probleem dus. Ik krijg de S-video uitgang niet aan de praat.
In het Nvidia menu staat de optie twinview in het grijs, en kan ik deze niet activeren. Ik heb al geprobeerd via de button check device maar dan herkent hij ook geen beeldscherm (in dit geval mijn tv) de tv is verbonden op mijn beeldkaart via een component kabel. op de kaart zelf zit een omvorm stukje die van s-video component maakt.
hieronder mijn xorg.conf file ik werk met Ubuntu 7.10 - de Gutsy Gibbon
Ik geraak er langs geen kanten wijs uit...

ok zal dit vanavond eens testen.
ik neem aan dat ik alleen bepaalde delen van die xorg.conf moet overnemen...
want anders zal hij toch niet meer met de correcte nvidia drivers werken? Of raad je aan om het ganse boeltje gewoon te kopieeren?

Jawel, je kan alles veilig overnemen (maak wel eerst een backup van uw originele configuratie). Want ik zie dat uw toetsenbord en resolutie dezelfde is als de mijne.
Mijn configuratie werkt al een tweetal jaren zonder problemen. Let op, bij mij is het wel zo dat indien er "niets" aan de tweede uitgang hangt (bijvoorbeeld een televisietoestel) de xserver moet herstart worden _na_ het aankoppelen van deze tweede uitgang. Alleen dan krijg ik beeld op mijn TV. Je kan de xserver eenvoudig herstarten door de magische toetsencombinatie CTRL+ALT+Backspace.

ok getest met uw xorg.conf file zonder resultaat dus :-(

volgens mij kan dit ook niet werken omdat ik een andere kaart gebruik dan jij.
in het device gedeelte staat de beeldkaart namelijk gedefineerd

geforce gts dus... of maakt dit allemaal niks uit?
pff ik begin linux zo stillekes aan moe te worden, en dan te denken dat dit in windows in vijf sec geklaard is... kan Nvidia nu ook een geen deftige linux drivers maken (zucht...)

Identifier heeft er niets met te maken. Dat is gewoon een logische naam om uw kaart aan te duiden.
En mijn config werkt in het geheel niet of er is gewoon niets te zien op de 2de uitgang?

ja de config file werkt wel maar er is gewoon niks van signaal op de tv... de tv staat wel op de juiste av uitgang, ik het het geluid van de pc enkel op deze uitgang dus daar loopt het ook al niet fout.

ik heb ondertussen al een beetje zitten klooien met xrander maar zonder succes dus...

Kan je eens logs posten van de xserver. Je kan deze vinden in /var/log/xserver.log
Edit: BTW, op de site kan je 2 types drivers downloaden. De gewone en de legacy (voor oudere kaarten). Welke heb je gedownload (of post gewoon de naam van uw NVIDIAblabla.run)?

of het ondertussen nog altijd die driver is die linux gebruik weet ik niet... ik heb namelijk al zodanig veel verschillende xorg.conf geprobeerd...

terug aangepast en opnieuw het log file aangepast

heb ik gevonden dat je er dit: Option "ConnectedMonitor" "TV"
moet uithalen.

geforce gts dus... of maakt dit allemaal niks uit?
pff ik begin linux zo stillekes aan moe te worden, en dan te denken dat dit in windows in vijf sec geklaard is... kan Nvidia nu ook een geen deftige linux drivers maken (zucht...)
Miischien een domme vraag, maar waarom heet topic  7300 gs

tewijl hier in de xorg.config Gefroce 4 Series staat?

ik heb deze vraag ook al gesteld of dit geen kwaad kan, maar kennywest verzekerde mij ervan dat dit enkel een logische benaming is van de kaart en dat dit niks te maken heeft met de drivers die gebruikt worden..

vandaar dus de 4 in de xorg.conf file )

yep idd das het enige voordeel dat ik er voorlopig aan gehad heb... dat ik al veel heb bijgeleerd :p

nuja ondertussen zou het wel ongeveer mogen beginnen werken.
In de jeugdbeweging (chiro) heb ik beloofd om het tweede seizoen van heroes te tonen op de tv. dit wel na onze activiteiten en alleen voor de leiding dus, ondertussen beginnen ze al te twijfelen aan mijn kennis over het ganse computer gebeuren, en zelf zij zijn al aan het zagen dat ik er terug windows moet opzetten... maarja where the challenge in that??? :d

Het kan zijn dat ik er overheen gelezen heb, maar volgens mij heb je het commando nvidia-settings nog niet geprobeerd.
Hiermee kan je via een grafische interface de tv-out en andere instellingen regelen.
Om het permanent in te stellen kan je het opstarten met sudo nvidia-settings

Bon, terug van weggeweest. Uit mijn configuratie moet je gewoon dit: Option "ConnectedMonitor" "TV" weghalen en dan zou het moeten werken. Merk op dat de TV er _moet_ aanhangen, anders gaat het niet werken. Als je eerder genoemde option eruit haalt, werkt het dan? Indien niet, nog even xorg logs posten aub.

teleurstelling allom... ik heb dus windows der terug opgesmeten om het snel te doen werken... (in dualboot met ubuntu welliswaar).

en zelfs met windows lukt het niet. dus nu zijn er verschillende mogelijkheden...  


dat koppelstukje werkt niet
de s-video uitgang werkt niet


het configuratie progie van nvidia herkent dus onder windows ook mijn tv niet. ondertussen al op verschillende tv' s geprobeerd.

kzal eens contact opnemen met de winkel waar ik deze kaart gehaald heb.

Zoals je zal kunnen lezen op dit forum heb ik die s-video uitgang van de kaart ook nooit deftig aan de praat gekregen in windows. Ik slaagde er maar niet in om het beeld op de TV fullscreen te krijgen. In Linux lukte dit met mijn eerder geposte configuratie meteen. Als je het inderdaad zelfs in windows, zelfs niet een beetje aan de praat krijgt, dan is er waarschijnlijk iets mis met de hardware, het koppelstukje of het TV toestel. Hou ons op de hoogte van uw vorderingen :)
