Ubuntu installeren met usb?

Hoi,

Als je geen cd/dvd player hebt of als die de installatie-cd niet kan lezen, kan ik ubuntu dan installeren mbv een usb-stick van 1gig?


Of zijn er andere betere manieren?

Ik heb het op usb staan, maar het lukt me niet om de usb vanaf het opstarten te booten...

Hoe doe ik dit?

het kan zijn dat je bios geen usb-booten ondersteund.

Er staat wel in de bios bij boot:

'scan user flash area" ofzoiets, is dat genoeg?


edit: verder snap ik dit niet, ik heb geen root map op mijn usb

Move files to the root directory

Copy (or move) the files stated from the following directories to your USB flash drive's root directory:

    *      isolinux (all files)
    *      install (all files)
          o            This step above is actually no longer needed provided you use the most recent version of syslinux. Starting with version 3.35 syslinux also supports subdirectories. I have used version 3.36 with ubuntu 7.04. Kom op mensen, dit moet toch kunnen met usb... Ik zou het graag willen weten.
Kan iemand mij helpen met bovenstaande vraag? Heeft iemand ervaring met installatie via usb?

Iedere schijf heeft minstens een "root" map. Die is gelijk aan het aankoppelingspunt. Verder heb ik absoluut geen ervaring met dit, maar het is zeer interessant om te zien wat er allemaal mogelijk is.

Als hij niet wil booten, dan ligt dat aan de bios. De regel die jij gevonden hebt, heeft niet veel om het lijf. In je bios staat gewoon een lijst met opstart-media. Als je daar "usb" tussen ziet staan, dan moet je USB als 1e opstart-medium instellen. Doe je dat niet, dan zal hij booten van het medium dat wel 1e staat (meestal cdrom of hdd).

Het kan heel goed zijn dat je bios dit verhaal niet ondersteund.....
