Al iemand een idee hoe ik de balken weer terug krijg? Oprollen, minimaliseren, slepen, sluiten e.d. Ik ben ze kwijt..als ik beryl aan heb staan.

wat voor een grafische kaart heb je eigenlijk? en welke instalatie heb je gebruikt?
ik heb namelijk het zelfde probleem gehad en alles maar dan ook alles geprobeerd en der hielp maar 1 ding en dat was niet instaleren met de live cd maar met de alternate en toen was alles van de eerste keer inorde. (ik heb trouwens een nvidia kaart)... Dus misschien kan ja dat eens proberen en dan ben je ook zeker dat je nog niks fout hebt gedaan als je met een propere instalatie begint.

PS:      sudo /etc/X11/xorg.conf    moet je wel uitvoeren mét de X als hoofdleter bbij X11 want anders werkt het zeker niet.

Dan zal sudo apt-get install gedit ook niet werken zeker?
Doe dan maar een herinstallatie want je pc is zo lek als een gieter. Onbegonnen werk.

Liever niet Corvus, met sudo ervoor is het bestand ook bewerkbaar. In dit geval moet het bestand gewoon gelezen worden.

Ooohw sorry, ik dacht juist dat ze het wilden bewerken! (aanpassen van xorg.conf om bepaalde resoluties mogelijk te kunnen maken)
Ik las zojuist ff het topic terug, en inderdaad ze willen eerst alleen de inhoud ervan bekijken.

OK. Zodra ik je xorg.conf hier zie gepost (als code), dan zal ik hem bewerken en terugposten (eveneens als code). Het enige wat je dan nog hoeft te doen, is de volledige inhoud van je xorg.conf te wissen en te vervangen door mijn codetekst.

Daarna herstart van je PC en je kunt (naar alle waarschijnlijkheid) bij Systeem - Voorkeuren - Schermresolutie de gewenste optimale resolutie en beeldfrequentie instellen: 1440x900 op 60 Hz.

Garantie kan ik niet geven, maar ik weet voor bijna 100 % zeker dat het gaat lukken.

Dat is dat, her-installatie achter de rug. Resultaat, heb dezelfde resultaten, met andere woorden, kan mijn xorg.conf nog steeds niet posten. Doch volgens Packard Bell is de resolutie van 1440x900 de MAXIMALE resolutie, heb ervoor gebeld. Doch ze verzekeren me dat als ik een resolutie van 1280x1024 - 60Ghz verkrijg dit zeker geen kwaad kan.
Het is de resolutie voor de vista en dan nog de maximale, in Linux weten ze het niet.
DUS, ik zou hier moeten kunnen mee werken zonder problemen. het beeld is in ieder geval perfect; En Ubuntu Feisty draait stabiel.
Zeg maar wat jullie ervan denken.

Inderdaad, kwaad kan het niet, maar je hebt bij een TFT-scherm het beste beeld bij de "ingeschapen" optimale resolutie en frequentie. Voor jouw scherm is dat 1440x900 bij 60 Hz.

ik vind het niet correct, namelijk de maximale resolutie welke je wil hebben, is voor een breedbeeld!
Wanneer jij dus een beeldscherm hebt welke een breedbeeld is, dan moet je ook een resolutie daaroor instellen, want 1280x1024 is voor normale beeldschermen.

Ga eens naar Lokaties->Computer
Klik dan op bestandssysteem, open de map etc,
scroll dan naar beneden tot je de map X11 tegenkomt en open die.
In die map hoort het bestandje xorg.conf te zitten, dubbelklik daarop,
Kopieer en plak de inhoud van het bestandje hier in een post.

Mooi zo! Hieronder staat de nieuwe inhoud voor je xorg.conf
Doe eens in een terminal:
sudo nautilus

Nu heb je een verkennertje met almacht. Ploeg daarmee door naar Bestandssysteem - etc- X11- xorg.conf  en dubbelklik op xorg.conf
Nu opent Gedit zich met (eveneens) almacht. Wis de volledige inhoud van xorg.conf en vervang die door de onderstaande inhoud (gewoon kopiëren en plakken). Niet het woordje Code meekopiëren!

Opslaan, sluiten en PC herstarten. Daarna schermresolutie en beeldfrequentie zetten op 1440x900 op 60 Hz, aldus: Systeem - Voorkeuren - Schermresolutie.

dit is vanop de mac hoor, want kan niet opstarten op de desktop van Monique.
T'ja, met Packard zijn xe nog niet klaar. Heb nu gezien op zijn helpdesk en downloads dat er ook alleen maar wallpapers te downloaden zijn van 1280x1024... En van vista wordt er niets gezegt alleen van xp. Ik denk dat ik door PB genaaid ben.

Zou ik graag doen, maar... is gecrasht. Ik vind het ook erg vreemd. De pc komt toe met vista voorgeïnstaleert, en op de helpdesk spreken ze van een xp. Ik heb dus geen beeld meer, doch zal een her-install doen. Zo wordt ik het nog gewoon ook.
