Een net aangeschafte MP3 speler laat zich niet zien in Xubuntu 18.bij het inpluggen op een USB poort.
Bij BlueTooth verschijnt opeens een slotje. Als met al heb ik geen idee wat ik hier mee aan moet.
G-parted ziet 'm wel als /dev/sdb1 fat32
Hoe krijg ik dit ding aan de praat?

Kun je bij settings een MTP of MSC modus vinden om de Sansa Clip USB-poort bij bestanden in Ubuntu zichtbaar te maken?

MSC = Mass Storage Class

Het playertje heb ik (allang) niet meer in mijn bezit. Ik weet niet meer of ik de sport plus uitvoering had?

Ondanks dat het een geweldige player is, vrees ik dat ik voor het overhevelen van muziek toch een windows pc nodig heb.
Als ik hem inplug via usb wordt hij gewoon niet (nergens) zichtbaar.

Ik ben ook in het bezit van een Sandisk clipplus.
Deze is probleem loos met  mijn Ubuntu te koppelen:
Instellingen -- systeem -- USB modus -- MSC
Wanneer ik de instelling op auto detect zet is de speler NIET  direkt te openen.

Dat is de juiste handleiding, echter wordt er nergens geschreven over een USB-modus en MTP en MSC.
Ik vrees dat de structuur anders is en het inderdaad meer voor de hand ligt om het met Windows te benaderen.

De USB modus bij de instellingen is bij mijn apparaat helaas niet aanwezig.

Moet je zelf weten of je ermee blijft werken maar officieel wordt er géén support meer verleend voor EOL (End Of Life) versies. Dit is op de officëele ubuntu forums zo, op IRC en andere support media. Dus.... geen hulp meer vragen bij niet ondersteunde versies is de boodschap.

MSC(Mass Storage Class)-modus moet normaal ook werken in oudere Ubuntu versies, maar MTP(Media Transfer Protocol) werkt pas in recentere Ubuntu versies. Misschien al in Ubuntu 19.04, maar mogelijk ook niet.

Toon eens of en hoe je systeem de Sandisk herkent door die

Ik heb de clip ingeplugd op Xubuntu versie 20.4 en ook die herkent hem niet.

Je had het in eerste instantie over 18.04...... Voor de rest was het goed bedoeld en zeg ik zoals het is en ervoor staat zodat anderen het ook weten, dat EOL versies geen support meer krijgen.

Ubuntu 18.04 mag inderdaad oud zijn, maar is not niet EOL. Pas in juni 2022 loopt de standaard support af, en dan is er nog, voor bedrijven en tegen betaling, extended security maintenance tot 2028.

De Sandisk wordt als hardware herkent, /dev/sdb, maar het systeem herkent geen partitie noch een bestandssysteem op dat apparaat. Dat zou kunnen komen omdat je schijf geconfigureerd is voor MTP, terwijl je Ubuntu 18.04 MTP niet ondersteunt.

Als het je niet lukt op de speler de instelling te wijzigen naar MSC, installeer dan eens mpt

Als het nog niet geïnstalleerd was, dan zal het wellicht werken nadat je je computer herstart hebt.

Het gaat/ging hier om XUBUNTU 18.04 zie begin post van de TS:

Een net aangeschafte MP3 speler laat zich niet zien in Xubuntu 18.bij het inpluggen op een USB poort.

En deze is wel EOL zoals ik eerder heb aangegeven.

Helaas wordt de player niet zichtbaar na de installatie van de MTP tool. Overigens schijnt hij wel te werken in de MSC mode, maar die heb ik dus ook niet. In ieder geval bedankt voor je hulp.
