Het is nu gebleken dat de eerste optie, het toevoegen van de volgende regel in /etc/modules: apm power_off=1, niet heeft geholpen, ik kreeg weer een hangende shutdown (fail to kill all remaning processes). De volgende stap is het toevoegen van de regel apm=power_off in /boot/grub/menu.lst. Echter, mijn vraag is nu: waar precies? Zie hieronder.

Misschien dat het toevoegen van deze regel het nu wel helpt? Overigens is mijn laptop niet zo oud, pas afgelopen januari dit jaar gekocht. Nog een vraag: hoe kan ik in systeem > beheer > systeemmonitor de logfiles nakijken? Ik kan niet in geschiedenis (bijvoorbeeld van afgelopen 24 uur) kijken. Jammer, anders zou ik mogelijk kunnen zien welke proces er niet afgesloten werd. Is er een andere mogelijkheid? Ik zal verder terzijnertijd zoeken naar de handleiding met info over BIOS-instellingen.
