Zoals misschien een paar van jullie al weten... ik woon in Hong Kong. Ik had een beetje heimwee, dus heb ik mijn laptop's "look" weer veranderd. Let goed op de kleine pluisjes op het screenshotje. Dat is een plugin in Compiz. (firefly) Die "fireflies" lijken precies op van de pluisjes die rondvliegen in de zomer. Vond het wel mooi, met dat gras in de voorgrond en dan die pluisjes die rondzweven.

ik had mooie desktop, maar nadat ik me hardy opnieuw moest installere heb ik ff helemaal nix.
zodra ik mijn nieuwe pc heb, zet ik compiz git tterug en ga ik verder kl*ten. verder hoorde ik ook van e17(volges mij ook dit topic) ziet er gaaf uit ga ik ook later uitproberen.

p.s. weet iemand ook wnaneer die compiz gt officieel uitkomt als compiz en tussen de updates zit? daarmee bedoel ik de compiz met die atlantis, snow en cilinder plugin.

Save and exit.

Next, retrieve the key for the repository and install the E17 package.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install e17 -y

Jij moet dus voor hardy gutsy gebruiken.

About the menu files
A "Cheat Sheet" for the E17 implementation of the desktop menu spec. Might help some folks setup their machine to use the new efreet code. Efreet utilizes your .menu files, .desktop files, and has an impact on your border icons. The samples below are intentionally simplistic. Much more can be accomplished.

Enlightenment handles the menus the same way as gnome or kde, that means, a full compliance with the FDO specs. In order to have menus, you have to use a .menu file. The enlightenment-data package provides an exemple file in /etc/xdg/menus/enlightenment-applications.menu.
If you want to use it, copy it to $HOME/.config/menus/applications.menu, or symlink it. You can also renames it to /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu if this file does not exist yet.

Please see E17 and Efreet for further information.

1. Solution suggested on E17 and Efreet
If you want Ubuntu to generate a menu for you, you first need these packages installed : menu, menu-xdg and xdg-utils.

sudo aptitude install menu menu-xdg xdg-utils

If you have those three packages installed, then a menu file (/etc/xdg/menus/debian-menu.menu) will be generated. For this file to be used by Enlightenment you must create a symlink to it at /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu:

sudo ln -s /etc/xdg/menus/debian-menu.menu /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu

After you have done this the menu should appear correctly no restart should be necessary.

Alternatively you can set XDG_MENU_PREFIX="debian-" in the environment that e17 is run in.

2. My solution
To install packages menu menu-xdg xdg-utils:

sudo aptitude install menu menu-xdg xdg-utils


If this file exists to safeguard $HOME/.config/menus/applications.menu. Open a terminal
Applications/Accessories/Terminal for GNOME users,
KMenu/System/Konsole for KDE users and type:

mv ~/.config/menus/applications.menu ~/.config/menus/applications.menu.backup


Do not use sudo for the following command .
a. Copy /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu in the file $HOME/.config/menus/:

cp /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu ~/.config/menus/

b. Copy /etc/xdg/menus/enlightenment-applications.menu in the file $HOME/.config/menus/:

cp /etc/xdg/menus/enlightenment-applications.menu ~/.config/menus/

c. To include the menu Debian, copy /etc/xdg/menus/debian-menu.menue in the file $HOME/.config/menus/:

cp /etc/xdg/menus/debian-menu.menu ~/.config/menus/

ik heb e17 geinstalleerd, helemaal goed!! Snel, en heel mooi, alleen zijn er maar weinig ecjt mooie theme's vindt ik zelf (die black... staat er nu op) maar de opbouw van het menu klopt niet, onder applications staat bv bij internet alleen sylpheed, en de rest van alle programma's staat onder overig. Hoe kan ik dit zlf indelen??

He, vervelend! Hong Kong...  Da's ff wat anders dan het altijd-bruisende-Lelystad....  
Maar de wereld is klein blijkt wel. Het lijkt me wel lastig soms met het tijdverschil.

Ik vind ook de gouden horizontale lamellen erg mooi. Waar kan ik die vinden? (of heb je het zelf gemaakt?)

Iconen kan je gewoon van elders halen. Ik denk dat er nog niet zo veel voor is omdat die E17 eigenlijk nog niet officieel is uitgebracht (zo begrijp ik het toch).
Het is in ieder geval toch een mooie dosis eyecandy zonder je systeem te vertragen...

Configuration ==> Theme ==> het vinkje op Personal zetten en op Import klikken. Dan de locatie van dat edj bestandje opgeven een selecteren. Als het goed is staat dan thema nu in de lijst en kun je dat gaan gebruiken.

welke resolutie gebruikt de eeepc 900? ik vind dit namelijk best meevallen, ik zag eerder eee pcs waarvan ik de resolutie pas echt rottig vond, maar hier valt wel mee te werken.

Er is ook nog ubuntu-eee,  niet een 'niet officiële' variant aangepast aan de EEEpc hardware.
