Okee, ik ben al een heel eind met het installeren van de drivers van nvidia. Gelukt.
nu beryl met de repo's zijn ook gelukt alleen hij doet het niet. Heb mijn xorg.conf al aangepast en ziet er zo uit:

verdere machine specificaties zijn:
1000Mhz pIII 640mb 32mb geforce 2 mx400/400 en een philips lightscribe 2

als ik beryl wil opstarten geeft hij een probleem met de glx. en dat terwijl ik de nvidia driver wel heb geinstalleerd.

Is er iemand die mij kan vertellen wat ik hieraan kan doen? Of dit misschien wel zo verstandig is? HIHI, keep on rockin' :)

Je moet in de screen sectie nog 1 regel toevoegen:
Option      "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
Je kan die regel onder     Option         "UseFBDev" "true" plaatsen.

Daarna even opnieuw starten, en in een terminal kijken of je directe rendering hebt:
glxinfo|grep direct

Als daar yes staat, dan zou beryl moeten werken :)

NB: een Geforce2 MX is niet echt al te snel meer. Beryl zal wel draaien denk ik, alleen wel langzaam.

Okee, ingevoerd maar nog steeds een fout :

Xlib: Extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0."

Ik begrijp inderdaad dat het niet zo een heel goed idee is om het te draaien maar het gaat mij er eigenlijk alleen om dat ik het voor elkaar krijg dat het draait, gewoon niet te bang zijn om te proberen en een beetje rommelen. Leuk

Ik las gisteren dat Ubuntu toch de driver voor dit soort kaartjes gaat aanpakken (nog in Feisty, dus binnen een maand) Als je even geduld hebt, komt het zonder knoeiwerk.

Te gek, en ook nog in Feisty da's moooooooi want die wilde ik toch al gaan proberen, eens kijken wat we nog uit deze oude rammelaar kunnen persen:)
