googleearth installeren

Ik wil graag googleearth voor Ubuntu installeren. Ik heb via deze guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GoogleEarth dan alternative installation het geprobeert te installeren. Ik heb de nieuwste versie van GoogleEarth gedownload. Maar al bij het 1e commando doet die het niet.    cd ~/Desktop      Dan krijg ik deze melding:

chris@Ubuntu-desktop:~$  cd ~/Desktop
bash: cd: /home/chris/Desktop: Bestand of map bestaat niet

Terwijl ik het download bestand wel op het bureaublad heb staan.

Wie kan mij helpen? Ik gebruik de Ubuntu versie 10.04

In de Nederlandstalige versie heet dat Bureaublad:

Had het zelf inderdaad niet door dat de Nederlandse vertaling ook een rol speelt.

Na de installatie krijg ik deze foutmelding:

Wel eerst al die ouwe meuk verwijderen natuurlijk die je nu geïnstalleerd hebt!
En laat ons weten hoe het nu gegaan is met de installatie.
