dual screen / driver probleem met ATI radeon 9600

Hoi,

Op het forum hier heb ik vroeger met Ubuntu 7.10 problemen gehad om mij dual monitor aan de praat te krijgen. Maar in 8.04 was dit alles opgelost door ATi Catalyst Control Center .... Echt dat was super

Nu zit ik dus te stoeien met ubuntu 8.10 omdat ik ook met 8.04 een update heb geinstaleerd dat opeens mijn dual screen niet meer werkt.
- installeer ik ATi Catalyst Control Center nu, dan zeurt die over dat geen drivers aanwezig zijn hiervoor.
-installeer ik dan nu de drivers ATI via
sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx

Dan crasht mijn systeem. En op het internet kan ik alleen maar meer mensen horen klagen over dit probleem.

Weet iemand hier waar het aan kan liggen?

Word de fglrx aangegeven in de 'Hardware Drives'? Als dat niet zo is kan je hem beter niet installeren. Ik kan hem ook niet installeren want dan 'crasht' mijn pc ook. 8.10 is op dat punt blijkbaar toch anders (andere kernel)

Ja het klopt dat die fglrx niet wordt weergegeven, dus dan installeer ik deze dus ook niet meer...

Maar ga dan even die andere link checken

Gewoon 8.04 weer installeren.
In Linux hoef of wil je niet altijd het nieuwste van het nieuwste.
Als het goed werkt houden zo.

Hoi,

Dat ben ik ook echt helemaal met je eens. Maar ik ben ook niet overgestapt voor het overstappen. Het was bij mij zo dat het onder 8.04 ook opeens niet meer werkte. Toen heb ik ook weer een dikke dag liggen klooien om het werkend te krijgen. Misschien dat het aan een update lag of zo?

In linux heb je algemene instellingen en instellingen die tot in de kernel gaan.
Zeg maar ff speciale drivers die nog niet in de huidige kernel zitten en die jij apart installeerd of in gebruik neemt.

Bij alle update's waar dan niet de kernel word vervangen is er nix aan de hand.
Bij ale update's waar wel de kernel word vervangen .... je raad het al.

Zul je dus de handelingen opnieuw moeten verrichten die je voorheen bij de oude kernel had gedaan.

Tis maar een weetje...

SOLVED] dual screen extended desktop - Radeon 9600 in 8.10
I've taken the plunge and decided to run Kubuntu 8.10 on main PC (dual boot for now) as I think the KDE4 interface is better than Windows XP!

I'm having difficulty getting dual screen working properly. It works using the FGLRX driver and I get two screens. However, I have two problems:

Problem #1: Reversed screen 1 and 2

My DVI screen is on the right and my main monitor on the left is a CRT using the VGA. Currently, they are reversed and it is a bit of a pain. Before someone makes the obvious suggestion, there are physical reasons why the LCD is on the right and the CRT on the left!

I've added the line

Option "DesktopSetup" "horizontal,reverse"

in my xorg.conf file but it seems to have had no effect in swapping over the monitors. What am I doing wrong?


Problem #2: The need for different screen resolutions on each monitor

My CRT works best at 1024x768 @ 70Hz, and my LCD 1280x1024, however at present both are being driven at the same resolution (1280x1024 I think). How can I get a different resolution on each screen?

ik heb bovenstaande file getest, maar heb een CLONE scherm met de externe monitor met verkeerde resolutie...

iemand enig idee wat ik aan de Xorg file moet veranderen?
