foutmelding firefox : profielmanager profielbeheerder

Zonder aanwijsbare oorzaak krijg ik bij opstart vanfirefox de melding:

"Kan de beveiligingscomponent van de toepassing niet initialiseren. De meest waarschijnlijke oorzaak is problemen met bestanden in de profielmap van uw toepassing". Als ik bij een bank moet inloggen krijg ik een melding dat er iets fout is met SSL-verbinding.

Nu heb ik al op internet gevonden dat je de profielmanager of profielbeheerder opnieuw moet instellen, er staat dit:

  1.  Sluit Firefox af. Om Firefox af te sluiten klikt u in het menu op Bestand en daar kiest u voor Afsluiten.
   2. Open een Terminal-venster.
   3. Bij de meeste Linux-distributies bevindt Firefox zich hier:
      /usr/bin/firefox
   4. Om de profielbeheerder van Firefox te starten, voert u het volgende in (gevolgd door Enter):
      /usr/bin/firefox -profielManager

Echter ik kan de profielmager niet op deze manier vinden. Wie helpt ??

Weet je zeker dat alle FF schermen zijn afgesloten?

Verder dacht ik even uit mijn hoofd dat het firefox --profilemanager was (dus met dubbel `-`). Of firefox -p

Klopt Tryer, inderdaad Firefox afsluiten, terminal openen en dit intypen  firefox --profilemanager
zoals Ronnie al beschreef. Dan opent de profiel manager zich, dus je hoeft geen pad op te geven.

O.K. bedankt, het is me gelukt om een nieuw profiel aan te maken. !!!!!!!!! Heb geen last meer van de melding met het nieuwe profiel.

Heb ik nog een vraag: Kan ik alle bladwijzers van het oude profiel importeren in het nieuwe profiel zonder dat ik alles handmatig moet invoeren ?

Ja dat kan, volgens mij is het niet meer dan het kopieren van een html file, maar heb het zelf nog niet geprobeert. De file staat hier:
./mozilla/firefox/<random>.<profielnaam>/bookmarks.html

Ik kan de html-file niet vinden. Als ik met de bestandenzoeker zoek op het woord "bookmarks", krijgr ik wel de file: bookmarks.html in de map /etc/firefox-3.0/profile maar daar staat niet de map in van het vorige profiel.

Waar kan ik het html-profiel van de vorige defaultmap vinden ? Ik heb het vorige profile niet weggehaald.

Ik kan de html-file niet vinden.

Let op de punt aan het begin, Tryer:
./mozilla/firefox/<random>.<profielnaam>/bookmarks.html
Die punt betekent dat dit een verborgen bestand is. Ga naar menu Locaties en klik op je Persoonlijke map. In  menu Beeld klikken op de optie 'Verborgen bestanden weergeven', of (gaat sneller) op de toetsen Ctrl+H drukken, dan krijg je de verborgen bestanden ook te zien.

Edit: die ./ aan het begin is trouwens verkeerd, dat moet zijn: .mozilla/firefox/enzovoort..........

O.k., ik kom steeds een stukje verder, bedankt alvast voor de hulp, maar ik ben er nog niet helemaal uit:

Na Locatie, Persoonlijke map, kom ik in: .mozilla/firefox m7qjjjsr.default en xdw37m38.Default User. Ik neem aan dat het oude profiel m7qjjjsr.default is. In deze map staan weer 5 mappen (bookmarkbackups, Cache, chrome, extensions, forecastfox. Offlinecache en een hoop losse bestanden waaronder bookmarks.html. Als ik dit laatste bestand aantik zie ik:

Wat moet ik nu doen om de instellingen van het oude profiel in te voeren ?

Heb zonder jullie antwoord nog een actie geprobeerd: Ik heb de inhoud van m7qjjjsr.default gekopieerd en geplakt in xdw37m38.Default User

Nu heb ik wel weer alle instellingen terug, maar ook de foutmelding waarom ik een nieuw profiel heb aangemaakt. Dus nu een derde profiel aangemaakt. Ik moet dus een aantal mappen / bestanden kopiëren en plakken, weet alleen niet welke ? Ik weet nl niet in welke map / bestand de fout zit.

Kunnen jullie me nog verder helpen ??

Wat je bookmarks betreft heb je al in de backup map gekeken? bij mij ziet het er zo uit /home/gijs/.mozilla/firefox/vkuuxfit.default/bookmarkbackups/bookmarks-2008-04-24.html. Wat betreft je geopende bookmark file dit is een lege file, zo met bookmarks:
