Aantal vragen mbt KDE

Dag allemaal,
Vandaag voor het eerst over gegaan naar KDE na 2 jaar GNOME te gebruiken. Wilde iets anders :)
Nu zit ik alleen met een paar vragen:
1. Zijn deze programma's te installeren onder KDE (werken ze er goed onder??)
    * Synaptic
    * GIMP
    * Evolution
    * GAIM/Pidgin
2. Om een "source" toe te voegen gaat dat nog steeds het zelfde ??
3. Ik heb bij het inloggen extreem grote lettertypes, dit had ik ook bij GNOME, heeft iemand hier een oplossing voor?
4. horen de icons die ik wil installeren echt rond de 20mb of groter te zijn, bij gnome was het ongeveer
    max 9 a 13 mb hoe kan dit?
5. Compiz-Fusion is niet geinstalleerd... is dit standaard onder kubuntu 7.10? dacht namelijk dat het standaard er in
    zat?? En is compiz nog steeds te installeren op de volgende manier: klik hier voor de url!

Versie Gutsy 7.10

Verder moet ik zeggen dat kubuntu sneller lijkt op te starten dan ubuntu ;)

De Iconen kan je verkleinen in je instellingen, waar je desktop enz... naar uw wensen insteld, ICONEN... ADVANCED daar kan je kiezen.
Evolution heb ik erop geprobeert en werkt goed, ook Thunderbird, want van KMail moest ik het zo niet.
Gimp zal er ook wel goed op werken, doch GAIM gebruikte ik niet.
FDE is gewoon even wennen en wat zoeken om alles naar Uw wens af te regelen... Doch ik vindt het OK.
Compiz-Fusion ben ik ook niet in geïnteresseert... Voor mij zijn dit alles accessoires. ( Tot nog toe )
Sneller opstarten, weet niet hoor, ik tel heus de seconden niet op, doch is wel vlug genoeg opgestart vplgens mij.
KDE is mooi, doch ietsje meer ingewikkeld ( Is groot woord ) Nee, Anders.

Volgens mij:
1. Synaptic is de pakketbeheerder van Ubuntu - in Kubuntu heet dat Adept, geloof ik. Werkt verder nagenoeg hetzelfde. Dus Synaptic hoef je niet in Kubuntu te draaien.....

5. Compiz-Fusion is standaard geinstalleerd in 7.10, als je grafische kaart het althans ondersteund (althans in Ubuntu - ik veronderstel dat dit ook geld voor Kubuntu).
Let wel: eerder hadden we Compiz en Beryl. In Gutsy is er Compiz-Fusion. Dat is volgens mij toch iets anders dan Compiz...? Correct me if I am wrong.....

@Artfreddy: Gebruikte je GAIM niet om dat je het niet gebruikt, of omdat het alleen voor gnome is?
@sisosteven: Ik vind adept niet lekker werken, synaptic werkt in mijn ogen lekkerder, compiz-fusion is een samen gang van compiz en beryl maar die is niet standaard geinstalleerd in kubuntu.

Weet verder iemand hoe ik de zeer grote/extreme lettertypes kan veranderen?? Want het gooit het hele scherm in de war tijdens het inloggen.

Je kan zonder problemen Synaptic gebruiken. Dat doe ik thuis net zo.

Waar ik net als jij nog wel naar op zoek ben is de manier om Compiz-fusion draaiend te krijgen.

@profox: Weet jij misschien hoe ik de lettertype kan verkleinen bij het begin? Ze zijn nu extreem groot en gooit het hele inlog scherm in de war...

Als je gewoon gnome en kde naast elkaar draait werkt het ut zelfde, en kian je het beste van alle 2 gebruiken

In tegenstelling tot ubuntu gutsy dacht ik niet dat je in kubuntu ergens compiz kon aanvinken. Het wordt immers ook niet standaard meegeleverd maar moet je achteraf nog es de packages afhalen. Die zitten al wel in de repo's.

Wat ik handig vond aan Beryl was dat tray icoontje in je taakbalk. Compiz fusion heeft dit precies niet. Misschien helpt deze link je even op weg. Gewoon installeren en het wordt automatisch in het menu gezet. http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2007/08/26/compiz-fusion-tray-icon/

Daar kun je compiz fusion aan- en uitschakelen zonder met commando's te gaan prutsen met verschillende parameters.

Ik had echter wel wat problemen met compiz fusion en de kwin window decorator. die crashte namelijk van tijd tot tijd... Misschien dat het beter werkt met emerald, maar ik heb dit niet echt getest.

Dat is geen optie voor mij want ik wil 1 desktop houden :), en wil geen combinatie.
Ik wil me eens volledig concentreren op KDE.

Maar het grootste probleem blijven die grote lettertype's bij het inloggen.
Heeft niemand daar een idee over??

Wordt de DPI van je monitor wel goed ingesteld bij het opstarten?
Dit zou normaal gesproken 96 moeten zijn geloof ik.
Als het goed is kan je dat terug vinden in /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Welke resolutie gebruik je normaal gesproken in Ubuntu?

Wat staat er in /etc/X11/xorg.conf?
In de "Screen"sectie moet de resolutie die je in Ubuntu gebruikt als eerste staan.
Bijv:
