Ik heb een vpn server (pptpd) opgezet onder Ubuntu 11.04 (gnome). Alles lijkt goed te werken, maar als ik (lokaal) een verbinding probeer te leggen via mijn macbook of mijn ipod touch wordt de verbinding onmiddelijk verbroken. In syslog krijg ik de volgende melding:

Ik ben nu een aantal dagen bezig, van alles geprobeerd, firewall aan/uit, passwords opnieuw ingeven, ed. Ik kom er niet uit wat hier mis is. Ik heb mijn vraag ook op het apple.community forum gezet, omdat het mogelijk om een probleem bij de client gaat, echter omdat de mac en ipod zelfde fout geven lijkt het me toch waarschijnlijker dat ik ergens in de opzet van de server verkeerd zit.

Ik heb het problem inmiddels opgelost:
In de chap-secretsfile stonden passwords met ongebruikelijke tekens (# etc). Daardoor werd de chap-secrets file verkeerd gelezen en konden geen ip adressen gevonden worden. Dankzij de beschrijving diagnoses en oplossing voor pptp (
http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/howto-diagnosis.phtml#lcp_timeout). De passwords staan nu tussen 'quotes', en de verbinding is tot stand gebracht ;-)
