te klein scherm Edubuntu 8.04

Ik heb op een oude laptop (Toshiba Satallite Pro 4600) Ubuntu 8.04 geïnstalleerd (met add-on Edubuntu).
De installatie heb ik via een andere laptop moeten doen omdat de Toshiba een beetje de weg kwijt is. CD speler werkt wel zo kan ik wel live puppy linux en knoppix gebruiken maar bv geen DSL. En  het installeren van Ubunutne of OpenSuSE loopt vrij in het begin vast. Ik heb Ubuntu dus via een andere laptop Ubuntu op de HDD gezet. Bij het terug zetten van de HDD start Ubunu wel op maar met een te lage scherm resolutie namelijk 600*800 ipv 1024*768.via Systeem -> voorkeur -> scherm resolutie, kom ik ook niet echt verder omdat de resolutie die ik daar in kan stellen 800*600 is (of kleiner). Verder kan ik in Ubuntu niets vinden waar ik de resolutie kan aanpassen en/of drivers kan installeren. Kan iemand mij helpen om dit op te lossen?

Heb gekeken in xorg.config maar hier staan geen resoluties alleen "configured Monitor"

eigenlijk hetzelfde probleem, alleen de ubuntu versie is anders maar in jouw geval maakt dit niet uit imo.

natuurlijk de waardes wel aanpassen aan jouw specifieke laptop en xorg.conf openen met gedit als root.
