Ik heb een ati 3d rage lt pro agp videokaart en een Philips190C7 lcd-scherm. Het lukt me niet om de schermresolutie op 1280x1024@60Hz in te stellen. Eén keer werkte de instelling maar na activatie van de schermbeveiliging was de resolutie, de keuze van het beeldscherm en de kaart weer veranderd. Iemand die me kan vertellen waar  het probleem hier zit? Ben net overgestapt van windows Xp en het gebrekkige beeld in ubuntu 8.04 schrikt me een beetje af.

Hier is om ubuntu je hardware(videokaart en monitor) te herkennen, hierna kun je alle resoluties toepassen:

With ubuntu 8.04, dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg is not the same anymore, now you can install your keybord and more with this.
But your videocard and monitor goes like this,
start in safe mode,
choose the last options with the "Try to fix X-server",
Here ubuntu will search and identify your monitor and videocard, so you have all your posssible settings.
Then reboot and install your videcard driver.(i use envy for this).

Alles opgevolgd, maar envy herkent mijn videokaart niet...

Nooit geen last meer gehad.
