Zoals iemand in dit topic last had van vastlopers, heb ik dat ook ongeveer.

Ik:
- Luisterde radio (XMMS)
- Chat  (gaim)
- surf (firefox)
 
en beryl draaide. Opeens bleef hij haken en niks werkte meer, alleen poweknop van mijn laptop inhouden tot hij uitviel ging.

Vanaf de LiveCD heb ik de root partitie gemount en het commando dmesg toegepast. Hieronder het resultaat:

Mij lijkt dat er vele errors inzitten, of is dit van de Livecd zelf? Opzich is het best irritant als dit gebeurd.

I/O errors..... lijkt op een stervende harde schijf. Maak in elk geval zo snel mogelijk een externe backup van je documenten, foto's e.d..

Doe daarna eens een gezondheidsproef bij de harde schijf: de fabrikanten van harde schijven stellen daarvoor meestal progjes ter beschikking, die je vanaf een opstartdiskette kunt draaien.

Zo'n programma zul je waarschijnlijk niet vinden bij Medion. Je moet naar de site van de fabrikant van de harddisk gaan, en daar even zoeken. Meestal is er 'n versie die je kunt draaien onder DOS of Windows, en 'n opstartdiskette of -cd.
Lees wel even de handleiding, want sommige testen kunnen gegevens beschadigen.

Garantie is belangrijk hier, ja. Overigens is het Windows-schijfcontrole-progje erg beperkt. Beter is iets van de harde-schijffabrikant zelf, iets dat vanaf een opstartdiskette of opstartbare LiveCD draait. Zoiets bijvoorbeeld:

dat staat in je bios, als je bij het opstarten de knop voor boot-opties induwt krijg je in je keuzelijst een lange naam met cijfers en letters, dat is het nummer dat je zoekt lijkt me...

Met het commnando sudo lshw krijg je alle hardware te zien. Even bladeren totdat je bij de harde schijf bent, dan zie je de fabrikant staan

met een diskette van de fabrikant is de foutmelding vaak wel te detecteren.
Dan krijg je een code.

Als dit binnen de garantie periode valt kun je de boel opsturen.
Hoe verschilt per fabrikant.
Vaak krijg je direkt een nieuwe en blijkt die oude alsnog niet defect krijg je de rekening.

Zeker doen! Die is namelijk van de maker van jouw harde schijf. Dit wil je helemaal grondig uitgezocht hebben.

Overigens geeft die overtemp melding wel te denken. Misschien wordt het ding gewoon te warm en loopt hij daardoor vast. Probeer je klaptop eens wat beter te koelen: zet verhoginkjes onder de "rubber pootjes", waardoor hij z'n warmte beter en sneller kwijt kan.

Programatja als ISO gebrand op een CD, toen heb ik met de cd erin gereboot, maar dan zie ik iets van dr-dos met wat ervoor, en nog wat eronder (lekker duidelijk), wat dus betekend dat de image goed is gebrand. Ik krijg nu enige tijd een zwart scherm. Is het normaal dat dit zo lang duurt?

Je hebt toch wel Data Lifeguard Diagnostics genomen, en niet 'n andere van die pagina? Ik heb mogelijk 'n iets oudere cd, maar bij mij staat er ibmdos (geen drdos) op en hij start gewoon op naar 'n startmenu met allerlei keuzes.
Als 't nou helemaal niet lukt met die cd zou je ook Ultimate Boot Cd kunnen downloaden en branden. Dat is trouwens sowieso handig, want daarop zitten 'n hele serie handige tools: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
Op die cd staan dus ook twee versies van Data Lifeguard Diagnostics, te starten via 'n handig menu.
Maar misschien kan iemand anders hier beter uit de voeten met drdos en heeft wat tips. Ik heb wel gemerkt dat drdos bij 'n hoop computers gewoon niet werkt, niet wil opstarten om wat voor reden dan ook.

Die temperatuur van 80 graden kan ook 'n maximum-temperatuur uit 't verleden zijn. Maar goed is 't zeker niet, echt veel en veel te heet.. Of je harde schijf heeft kuren, of je hele computer wordt te warm, en dan lopen mogelijk ook andere onderdelen gevaar. 'n Hangend systeem kan ook komen door 'n te hete cpu.
Je kunt ook kijken of de ventilatie-openingen in je kast nog wel open zijn en niet vol stof zitten. En of de ventilators nog wel schoon zijn. Als je niet weet hoe je dat soort dingen schoon moet maken, google dan eerst even.

Ik zal kijken.

Bij een oude computer (die nu overigens is crashed) gebeurde dat af en toe de computer door oververhitting opnieuw wilde opstarten, maar in een soort cirkeltje kwam. Toen heb ik hem opengemaakt en goed schoongemaakt en het was weer goed.

Ik zag later trouwens bij een korte test 90 staan. Niet best, maar wel iets om op te letten,
