installatie 8.04 lukt niet

helaas, opnieuw zonder resultaat. Bij de hogere vga-waarden, geeft hij het ubuntu-logo zelfs niet meer.

Bij sommige waarden geeft hij wel het volgende: (onmiddellijk na het booten)
Undefined video mode number: 316 (nummer verandert met de waarde die je ingeeft).
Press ENTER to see video modes available, SPACE to continue.
Dan heb je een aantal waardes, waar VGA of VESA achter staat. Ook geen succes bij het kiezen van verschillende van deze waarden.

Ik had dit ook tijdens het laden van de live-cd, toeval of niet, met dezelfde Acer Laptop uit de 1350 reeks . Voorlopig werk ik verder met 7.10 en overweeg een upgrade want dat laden was mij ook niet gelukt met de 7.10 live-cd toen ik nog met 7.04 werkte.
Fiesty Fawn kon ik wel nog probleemloos installeren.

Net terug van een maand vakantie en nog eens geprobeerd, ook met de tip van mario. Maar nog steeds noppes. Hij blijft hangen op

We beginnen zo stilaan een beetje wanhopig te worden eigenlijk. We zouden echt graag ubuntu op de pc draaien, maar het lijkt niet te lukken.

Ongetwijfeld zijn er slimmerds die een oplossing hebben ;-)

Inderdaad met die VGA-codes. VIA/S3 wordt niet goed ondersteund door Ubuntu. Had ik ook met 7.10 op een Packard Bell, precies ditzelfde probleem. Uiteindelijk toen maar 6.06 geinstalleerd. Nu 8.04 en die doet het al beter, al is er nog steeds een slechte ondersteuning voor VIA/S3. Niet dat het zo nodig is want VIA/S3 is toch bagger. Na wat gerommel toch de goeie instellingen bereikt, echter startte 8.04 bij mij wel op alleen met de verkeerde instellingen. Gelukkig gebruik ik die Packard Bell nu alleen als server en heb ik op deze laptop lekker nVidia zodat 8.04 perfect werkt

Oplossing gevonden:

in de xorg.conf file moet dit staan. Dan doet ie het normaalgezien.
