"My os-system is Ubuntu 14.04. Memory 3,9 GiB. Processor AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 Processor × 4. Grafisch VESA: CAICOS. 64 bit.
I have installed this version of VirtualBox: Ubuntu 13.04 ("Raring Ringtail") / 13.10 ("Saucy Salamander") i386 | AMD64 (there was no newer for for Ubuntu 14.04)
after that I installed the Extentionpack (VirtualBox 4.3.10 Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack All supported platforms)
But when i try to install Windows XP I get the folowing message: "Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908) The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Please reinstall the kernel module by executing '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup'as root. If it is available in your distribution, you should install the DKMS package first. This package keeps track of Linux kernel changes and recompiles the vboxdrv kernel module if necessary."
I installed the DKMS package and executed /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup.
Here is what came in my terminal:
"anno@anno-Ubuntu:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup
[sudo] password for anno:
Stopping VirtualBox kernel modules ...done.
Uninstalling old VirtualBox DKMS kernel modules ...done.
Trying to register the VirtualBox kernel modules using DKMSError! Your kernel headers for kernel 3.11.0-19-generic cannot be found.
Please install the linux-headers-3.11.0-19-generic package,
or use the --kernelsourcedir option to tell DKMS where it's located
...failed!
(Failed, trying without DKMS)
Recompiling VirtualBox kernel modules ...failed!
(Look at /var/log/vbox-install.log to find out what went wrong)
anno@anno-Ubuntu:~$ "
I hope anyone can help me."
"Hi Anno,
I am so sorry but we will not be able to support Ubuntu.
Can you please try to ask Ubuntu about this?
Also VirtualBox has a forum.
Please let us know how it goes.
Also we have a new version of Robolinux VM Systems
Installers and Stealth VM Systems Installers for
Ubuntu 14.04 so email us from our contact menu button
when you are ready for us to send them to you.
We will be formally releasing those next week but I can
send you the file now.
Thank you
John"
