Acer aspire 3002 wlmi / ubuntu 9.10

Acer aspire 3002 wlmi / ubuntu 9.10
After an automatic system update last saturday my laptop won't start anymore.
After switching the laptop on I can see the acer screen, next I can see the grub loading screen and at last I see the screen boot from .... and Starting up.....
The last thing I get is a black screen with the round ubuntu logo with the 3 dots. After a couple of seconds the screen turns black. The only thing still working is the on/off switch.
I took some pictures of the screen during startup and shutdown wich I can send you if necessary.
Anybody got a clue what is wrong?
