scherm voor Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 met versie 10.04

Ik heb net Ubuntu 10.04 geinstaleerd op mijn toshiba Satellite Pro 4600
Mijn scherm blijft klein van formaat.
Wat ik gevonden heb is dat ik een bestand moest aanmaken xorg.conf en in de dir. plaatsen ect/x11.
met de inhoud:

Na het opnieuw opstarten van de de computer bleef de computer hangen bij nog steeds het kleine scherm van Ubuntu.

Als er iemand mij kan helpen zal ik dat erg op prijs stellen.
Ik heb verder weinig of geen ervaring, met Ubuntu.

Wat voor videokaart zit erin?

Als je niet weet wat voor videokaart je hebt -dat zou zomaar kunnen- dan komen we daar wel achter.
Ga eens naar Toepassingen>>Hulpmiddelen, en start de Terminal.

De terminal is vergelijkbaar met een dos-box, daarin kan je commando's geven buiten de grafische schil om.
Geef daar eens het commando:

sudo lshw -html > hardware.html
(l=kleine letter L)
Daarna je password ingeven. Je ziet geen tekens, maar dat hoort zo. Daarna Enter.
Korte uitleg: met 'sudo' krijg je tijdelijk rootrechten om dit soort dingen te doen. Een rootaccount bestaat nl. niet standaard in Linux. 'lshw' staat voor list hardware.
Je hardware wordt nu als .html file weggeschreven naar je Home map. Daar vindt je de file 'hardware.html', en daarin staat je video kaart. Post dat resultaat eens hier

Je hebt een Trident cyberblade/XP, dat is een relatief 'oude' videokaart.

De oplossing die je hebt toegepast, komt uit dit oudere draadje:

Check eens of je het op de goede manier weggeschreven hebt in je Xorg file, met rootrechten (dus met gksudo, zoals aangegeven)

Kijk eens aan... hier was ik ook al een tijdje naar op zoek...
Ik zit ook nog met zo'n laptop, en wil er al een tijdje een minimalistische Ubuntu op proberen. Lubuntu was niet echt een succes, maar misschien iets met Fluxbox...?
