Ik heb gisteren webeditor amaya geïnstalleerd via synaptic.
Bij het openen van amaya verscheen er zeer kort een scherm dat meteen weer verdween. Een herstart van ubuntu gaf ook geen soelaas. Het eindigde dan ook met de verwijdering van amaya.
Vandaag heb ik het opnieuw geprobeerd met software installeren/verwijderen, met hetzelfde resultaat.
 
Wie weet een oplossing, zijn er amaya gebruikers in het forum en wat zijn hun ervaringen.

De leeftijd van de computer zal niet uitmaken, Linux is voor alle leeftijden  Je mag wel even amaya opstarten in je terminal/console. Kopieer de meldingen die je ziet en plak ze even bij je volgende berichtje. Dan kan een meer begaafd persoon als ik je wel een antwoord geven. Ik heb Amaya namelijk zelf even geinstalleerd en bij mij doet ie het goed.

II.1. Amaya doesn't start. What can I do?

The major reason is that Amaya cannot generate its temporary working directory.

The following table shows the default position of this directory in different architectures:

AMAYA-INSTALL-DIR\users\username or, if the user didn't login to Windows, AMAYA-INSTALL-DIR\users\default

by default c:\Documents and Settings\$user_name\amaya

If this position is not available, you have to force another position with the AMAYA_USER_HOME global variable.

This variable must point to an existing and allowed path directory under which Amaya will generate its working files and sub-directories.

On Windows platforms, you should set that variable from the System Properties (either accessible from the "System" Control Panel or through My Computer -> Properties context menu) "Advanced" page - Environment Variables. This way the setting will be in effect for every process.

set AMAYA_USER_HOME=C:\Documents and Settings\XX\Amaya

Do not leave spaces around the variable name and the value, and don't use quotes.
On Unix platforms

   1. If a GDK crash occurs, you can try to execute the command "xset fp" then retry to launch amaya.
   2. If all dynamic libraries needed by the executable file amaya are there, you can launch amaya with strace to see what is wrong

      strace /usr/share/Amaya-R.V/wx/bin/amaya

Dit zie ik in de terminal:

Voor mij is dit latijn, maar misschien kun jij er iets mee?

Probeer eens een herinstallatie van amaya, wie weet iets fout gegaan.
En probeer dit anders eens

Als dat niet helpt dan heb je inderdaad een meer begaafd persoon nodig, want daarmee is al mijn kennis opgebruikt.

Ik heb het commando xset fp in de terminal geprobeerd, maar noppes.
Over een tijdje ga ik het nog eens proberen met amaya, de aanhouder wint tenslotte.
In ieder geval bedankt wim.
