inktniveau controleren in Oneiric

Ik heb een Canon IP4200 in mijn Ubuntu 11.10 64 bits, ik wil even de niveaus van mijn inktcartridges controleren.
De software van "ink" en "mtink" zien deze printer niet en kan hem niet bij deze twee vinden of configureren.
Hij is wel goed geïnstalleerd in Ubuntu en print ook perfect. Maar wat ik al zei, de controle van het inktniveau.
Heb dan ook daar de laatste 64 bits versie van inkblot geïnstalleerd, maar wat krijg ik: (inkblot:25874): Gtk-WARNING **: Kan themamodule niet vinden in modulepad: ‘pixmap

Bij de Eigenschappen binnen localhost wordt inktcontrole niet ondersteund.

Dus hoe ik deze Gtk-Warning wijzigen om te kijken of inkblot mijn printer ziet, of is er een andere weg om de inktcartridges qua niveau van deze Canon IP4200 in Ubuntu te controleren?

Ink werkt via de commandoline of in de terminal, zit geen GUI bij.
mtink is specifiek voor EPSON.
 
Voor de GTK fout, voer dit commando uit in een terminal(onder Hulpmiddelen) sudo aptitude install gtk2-engines-pixbuf om type foten te vermijden, kopier en plak het commando in de terminal. Geef een ENTER hierna moet je het wachtwoord intypen, hier zie je niets van, gewoon blind typen en geef een ENTER.

Bedankt softbart, maar inkblot werkt niet, niet bij de gewone opstart vanuit Dash Home en in de terminal blijft de cursor hangen.
Dus dat zal dan, neem ik aan, wel liggen aan inkblot.

Over ink, ik weet dat dat alleen via de terminal kan. De printer is gewoon met USB verbonden.
Maar wat krijg ik:

Ja. Gijsbert, is al geïnstalleerd, krijg nu niet meer die Gtk-warning, maar wat ik al zei, "inkblot" werkt niet vanuit Dash Home en bij de terminal blijft de cursor hangen en start "inkblot" niet op. Zal dus, zo neem ik aan, aan het programma liggen, ik zie geen verdere conflicten.

"mtink" is inderdaad voor Epson, maar ik heb dus de Canon IP4200, dus niet geïnstalleerd.

En dus "ink" heb ik al gezegd, herkent het niet. Zie het conflictje hiervoor.

Dus een andere oplossing of een extra configuratie?

Volgens welke instructies heb je inkblot in Ubuntu 11.10 geïnstalleerd? Want zo te zien heeft Colin Watson zowel inkblot amd64 en inkblot i386 uit de Ubuntu pakketbronnen verwijderd. Daar zal toch wel een reden voor zijn. 

bij de terminal blijft de cursor hangen en start "inkblot" niet op.

Bedoel je dat de cursor op de volgende regel gaat knipperen, zonder een foutmelding te tonen? Hoe weet je dat inkblot niet gestart is? Had je dit gecontroleerd in het terminalvenster via commando

Want op één van mijn oude PC's is in Ubuntu 10.04.3 inkblot nog wel beschikbaar in de Ubuntu pakketbronnen. Zodat deze nog wel via synaptic te installeren is. Als ik inkblot in het terminalvenster typ, dan ik ik ook op de volgende regel de cursor knipperen. De applicatie is dan wel gestart. Want ik zie het icoontje van inkblot in Natilus bovenste taakbalk. Alleen wordt mijn HP all-in-one niet ondersteund. Ik kan 'm niet verder testen.

Bij mij op 10.10 (64 bits) start inkblot ook op, maar ook mij HP Photosmart 8250 wordt ook niet ondersteunt.

Ja Gijsbert, kan zo zijn. Waarom zou hij deze verwijderd hebben?

Jolo, heb zowel via het icoon van Inkblot in Dash Home dit programma laten opstarten, resultaat: noppes.
Via de terminal geeft het commando 'inkblot' een cursor onder het commando, even knipperend, dan stilstaand.

Maar misschien ligt het inderdaad wel aan de verkeerde 64 bits versie, omdat, zoals je kan lezen heeft Colin Watson een en ander verwijderd.
Ik heb de versie inkblot_0.99.9-2_amd64.deb met natuurlijk alle dependencies. Een versere of nieuwere versie heb ik niet gevonden.

Andere oplossing of configuratie wellicht?

Je moet je gebruiker nog even lid maken van de "lp" groep, anders heb je niet genoeg rechten om de inktniveau's uit te lezen.
Kopieer en plak dit commando in een terminal en voer je wachtwoord in:

Hierna wel even uit- en inloggen of je computer opnieuw opstarten.

Hierna zou het ink commando wel gewoon moeten werken.

Ik heb mtink geïnstalleerd in Debian squeeze. Dus duidelijk een andere kernel.

Denk ik niet, heb nooit 10.04 gehad maar gelijk als eerste keer Ubuntu gebruiker gelijk 11.10, dus kan hij niet meegenomen hebben.

en de USB staat bij mij ook niet in de dev map.

Ja, ink, inkblot (nieuwste versie zelfs verwijderd door maker/vrijwilliger) en mtink werken niet, omdat /dev/bus/usb niet wordt herkend.
Maar heb nu toch een ander probleem, telkens : "permission denied", kijk maar, hoe kan ik aan die usb poorten permissie verlenen, sudo usermod -a -G lp $USER heeft dus blijkbaar het probleem niet verholpen.
