New laptop wanted! What's about Mingos??

Dear Ubuntu friends,

I hope it's not mandatory to write in Dutch: I'm trying to learn, but at the moment I still miss quite a lot of knowledge 

I registered to the local ubuntu-forum mainly to ask a local ubuntu-question. I live since a few months in Amsterdam and I happen to need (urgently) a new laptop. For too many times the first thing I've done with a new laptop was "erase the current OS", so I decided that it's time for a linux notebook.

Happy with the decision I started to look around and ... While there are plenty of (really) good offers in the US, Europe does not offer that much: there are small companies that re-sell laptops with open-source OS, but it's really hard to evaluate. And here comes the question: anyone had an experience with a Mingos laptop? From Netherlands to Netherlands  looks like a fast delivery

One of our forum members has a company called OS4FREE, which provides customers with PC's and notebooks with the Ubuntu Linux distribution installed by default.

You're lucky, this forum has just opened a market-place section which can be found at http://forum.ubuntu-nl.org/aangeboden/ . Unfortunately there are not many items to be found yet, but that will certainly change. If no laptop is available in our market place, you should have a look at martkplaats.nl, one of the most popular online market places in the netherlands. Although the site is Dutch, I think you will find it self-explanatory.

The owner of the Mingo's store is also registered on this forum, although not often on-line (anymore). I have no experience with their laptops, because i think their too expensive. Its hard for small companies to alter the same prices. For me (as a student) money is an issue, but i have plenty of time to install Ubuntu myself. But for what i know is the owner of the store is a real Ubuntu (OSS) fan and is very helpful.

I made my decision and I went for Mingos (I was looking for something a bit more powerful than what offered by OS4FREE: next laptop will be their, and probably next will be soon...). It's true it's a bit expensive, but if the suport is good I think it's a good investment, right?

Hi gjatute, welcome on our forum.
If you take an Ubuntu live-cd to the shop where you want to buy a pc, you can first try that everything is working like you want. With the live cd nothing is installed on the pc.
Most of the shops don´t make a problem of it when you do this.
