Mint Cinnamon 18.3
Met regelmaat wil de printer HP-Officejet-Pro-8730 niet printen.
Als ik kijk naar 'Printerwachtrij' dan is het document (zelfs een 212K) 'vastgehouden'.
Ik gebruik gaan usb aansluiting, maar wel via WIFI.
Misschien kan volgende info helpen:

error: This distro (i.e linuxmint  18.3) is either deprecated or not yet supported., misschien dat dat iets met je probleem te maken heeft. Verder denk ik dat die HP gewoon moet kunnen printen, dus even verder zoeken.

Ik had bijna tien jaar geleden een vergelijkbaar printerprobleem. Waarin applicatie hplip-gui bruikbare info gaf. Mogelijk ging het om deze bugmelding https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hplip/+bug/181242

Ook terminalvenstercommando lpstat kan extra info geven. Bijvoorbeeld

Probeer eens volgende handelingen, misschien helpen ze jou naar een oplossing: in LinuxMint64- 18.3-Cinnamon-

1) Indien de printer al geïnstalleerd zou zijn: verwijder die uit Afdrukbeheer.

daarna, ...en, indien de printer niet zou geïnstalleerd zijn, ga je als volgt te werk:

2) Open  Menu > Beheer > Afdrukbeheer > Afdrukbeheer-localhost (schermpje) > klik naast  toevoegen op het pijltje > Printer > Apparaat selecteren > Netwerkprinter op het pijltje ervoor klikken > Netwerkprinter zoeken  --( de printer moet wél reeds verbonden zijn en aan zijn, ook het WiFi-symbool op de printer moet aan zijn --anders zal de printer niet gevonden worden ... )-- zoek ... en de rest volgen, > volgende ...volg dan de verdere instructies van de manager.

Daarna wordt er gevraagd om een testpagina af te drukken nee / ja -- klik op nee of wil je toch zekerheid druk dan op ja.
Nu zou je zonder probleem, via WiFi, moeten kunnen printen, allee, dat lukte toch bij mij  ^-^ .

Bedankt voor reactie.
Had ondertussen (van miserie) Mint 18.2 Mate over Mint 18.3 Cinnamon gezet.
De HP printer doet het goed zonder het probleem "vastgehouden".
 ;)
