Libata uitschakelen voor installatie

Ik ben nu aan het verhuizen van Opensuse 10.3 naar Ubuntu 8.04. Ik heb alleen precies hetzelfde installatieprobleem met ubuntu als in opensuse. In Opensuse 10.3 heb ik voordat ik ging installeren gebruik gemaakt van een soort van parameter om libata uit te schakelen. Dit was namelijk nodig om de installatie mijn primaire IDE schijf te laten zien, die kon hij met libata ingeschakeld namelijk niet zien. Dit deed ik met de volgende regel:

hwprobe=-modules.pata
(staat ook ik Opensuse 10.3 releasenotes)

Ik vroeg me af of er voor ubuntu ook een mogelijkheid is om libata uit te schakelen als parameter voor de installatie. En ook belangrijk; waar voer ik die parameters in?

Andere oplossingen zijn ook welkom, zolang ubuntu maar gewoon mijn ide schijf kan zien! gParted (op de livecd) zag mijn schijf ook niet, wat ik raar vond. De officiele gparted livecd ziet hem namelijk wel. Is het een kernelprobleem ofzo?
