Ik heb zojuist Kubuntu Edgy Eft ge

Lijkt erop dat je scherm resolutie te hoog staat. Volgens mij kan je dit aanpassen in /etc/x11/xorg.conf
Misschien staat er nog een backup van een oude xorg.conf, dan je proberen deze over de huidige heen te schrijven.
Je kan ook proberen met met het commando sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg je xorg configuratie te herstellen.

Eerst en vooral bedankt voor de vlugge reactie, maar ik krijg het probleem niet opgelost. zelfs als ik de resolutie heel laag zet 800 X 600 en met een frequentie van 75 Hz, dat is zeker juist. maar een oude Xorg heb ik niet aangezien dit mijn eerste linux is
ik wel een dual boot met windows XP mss geeft dat een probleem ?

Misschien moet je standaard maken voor deze computer aanvinken in
Systeem > Voorkeuren > Schermresolutie ?
Hoe heb je het aangepast, door xorg.conf te editten, of met dpkg-reconfigure ?

Klinkt misschien gek, maar je zou het nog eens kunnen proberen met 800 * 600 en dan op 60Hz. Ik had namelijk een zelfde soort probleem toen ik op 75 HZ draaide.

Als ik het goed begrijp heb je dit probleem als sinds de installatie, of is het probleem ontstaan na het installeren van ATI-drivers of fglrx?
Heb je de live cd gebruikt of de alternate cd?
Is het mogelijk dat je de inhoud van je xorg.conf op het forum zet?

Het zou misschien kunnen zijn dat het je ATI-kaart niet goed heeft herkend, dan zou je voor nu even gewoon in standaard SVGA mode moeten instellen.
Vermoed dat dit wel kan via sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
Precies hoe kan ik je helaas ook even niet vertellen, maar misschien weet iemand anders dit wel....

De dual boot met windows xp is verder geen probleem.

Ik heb precies hetzelfde probleem gehad met zowat alle versies van ubuntu icm mijn ati radeon 9550 .
Zowel voor de installatie van fgrlx als daarna . Met alleen het verschil dat tijdens het boot proces het beeld weg valt met de melding "videomode niet ondersteund" Daarna kwam het weer terug en kon ik gewoon inloggen , verder geen probleem .
Dit heb ik opgelost door in /boot/grub/menu.lst de vga modus te veranderen naar vga 791 , met als resultaat geen wegvallend beeld meer en een prachtig mooi boot process en een mooie console .
Dat het bij jou Na het inloggen misgaat ligt vrijwel zeker aan je xorg.conf .
Hier heb je een voorbeeld van mijn menu.lst en mijn xorg config .

Dit is alleen het stukje waar ik de vga=791 heb toegevoegd voor het opstart gebeuren en de console .

Hier mijn xorg van de ati 9550 radeon en een nec tft scherm in een resolutie van 1280x1024 75 Hz .
Misschien heb je er wat aan ter vergelijk .
