Na mijn laptop heb ik ook op de oude desktop Ubuntu geïnstalleerd. Het is een Pentium III with 256 mbytes of RAM met een inboard Intel grafische kaart, Intel 82815 CGC (Chipset graphics). Planet Pinguin Racer (ppracer) doet het niet behoorlijk: het programma start op, maar waar normaal de letters voor de keuzes komen, staan enkel wat witte stippen. De graphics zijn zeer traag. Nochtans zou 3D acceleratie goed moeten werken:

glxgears loopt goed:

Wanneer ik ppracer start vanaf de commandolijn, verschijnt volgend bericht (continu):
[driAllocateTexture:636] unable to allocate texture
Planet Pinguin Racer werkte perfect onder Windows ME en twee jaar geleden, tijdens mijn eerste Linux bad met Mandrake, werkte het ook perfect op diezelfde computer (wees gerust, dit maal ben ik voorgoed vertrokken onder Linux - Géén dual boot meer!).
