aloha zei de noob,

ben reeds aan het sneupen geweest en heb het commando gevonden:
sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

Ik heb twee harde schijven in de comp.
Op hd0,0 staat windows en op hd1,0 staat ubuntu710

Nu wil ik graag eens een bill-vrije pc. Wat moet ik wijzigen in menu.lst om dit voor elkaar te krijgen? Ik heb nl geprobeerd er een andere schijf in te hangen (zelfde positie als de windows schijf) maar dat resulteerde in een niet startend systeem.

Het volstaat om Grub standaard te laten starten met Linux. Door het hekje te verwijderen voor "hiddenmenu" wordt rechtstreeks doorgestart naar de default item. Nu moet je default ingesteld staan op je Ubuntu installatie. Dit wordt geregeld met "default  0", 0 bij mij omdat Ubuntu mijn eerste item is onder ## End Default Options##. Je mag ook de paragraaf "title .... quit" voor Windows verwijderen om het netjes te maken.

Daarna herformatteer je best je hd0,0 (wellicht sda1 voor ubuntu - hd0,0 is de Grub notatie) naar ext3. Hierna zul je je /etc/fstab moeten aanpassen om die partitie automatisch te koppelen gedurende de opstart. Dat alles kan met vijf, zes commando's, en als je de uitkomst van "sudo fdisk -l" en je huidige fstab ("cat /etc/fstab") hier post, zullen velen je daar graag bij helpen.

Als je onzeker bent over mijn instructies in de eerste paragraaf, post dan eerst eens je /boot/grub/menu.lst hier, dan kunnen we specifiek de nodige edits aangeven. Maak hoe dan ook eerst een reservekopie van menu.lst (en elk bestand dat je aanpast), dan kun je gemakkelijk "terugkeren" als het niet lukt ("sudo cp /boot/grub/menu.lst /boot/grub/menu.lst.bak")
