Als ik inlog op een Ubuntu 16.04.6 systeem worden onderstaande 2 regels getoond:

16 packages can be updated.
12 updates are security updates.

Dan geeft ik eerst het commando:
 $ sudo apt-get update

Ligt er ook aan wat je security noemt.

Sommigen zijn security updates tegen virussen en *ware.
Anderen zijn updates om foutjes uit software te halen. Dat is geen anti virus en *ware update, maar wel security van een stabiel systeem. Een onstabiel systeem is ook niet veilig te noemen.
En sommigen zijn geen security maar nieuwe of uitgebreide functies.

Ik doe ze gewoon allemaal, om een veilig én stabiel systeem te houden. De nieuwe functies zijn een bijkomstigheid.
