Geluid Compaq Armada 1750 niet in orde

Hallo,

ik heb een oud laptopje en na wat knoeien staat er xubuntu op en het draait best wel vlot (heb er 128mb geheugen bij gezet). Nu werkt mijn geluidskaart niet. Als ik iets probeer af te spelen geeft hij een melding dat de geluidskaart niet goed is geinstalleerd. Het is een ESS1869, op forums enzo is er niet zo veel goeds over te horen dus ik hoop dat het gaat lukken. Hier wat linkjes met info:

I have just installed Dapper on an ancient Compaq Deskpro and had the same issue. I was fortunate to find the fix here:

The fix is contained in nlogax's posting of April 17th, 2005, 08:12 PM, however he misses something out, The full fix is:

1. Create a file in /etc/modprobe.d called snd-es18xx and put the following line in it:

options snd-es18xx enable=1 isapnp=0 port=0x220 mpu_port=0x388 fm_port=0x330 irq=5 dma1=1 dma2=0

2. Edit /etc/modules to add snd-es18xx on a line by itself, e.g.:

Helaas dit helpt niets. Hij geeft de melding:
Gelieve te controleren dat:

je geluidskaart correct ingesteld is
je de juiste uitvoerplugin hebt geselecteerd
geen ander programma de geluidskaart blokkeert

Als ik hierna bij mixer kijk heeft hij geen schuifjes en hij staat op default en ik kan niks kiezen.

Kan je de volgende commando's invoeren in een terminal (Toepassingen-->Hulpmiddelen-->Terminal Venster), en de uitvoer hier tonen? Gewoon via copy & paste, en steeds gevolgd door enter. (Het zal gaan om erg veel tekst.)

- Ok, probeer eens het volgende (in een terminal):

sudo modprobe snd-es18xx

- Als je foutmeldingen krijgt, kan je die hier laten zien? Probeer daarna ook het volgende:

alsamixer

- Je kan dan de volumeinstellingen regelen met de pijltjestoetsen. Als je schuifjes kan bewegen, dan werkt de kaart (alleen is er misschien nog geen geluid).

- Vervolgens: reboot, en copy&paste in een terminal:

dmesg | grep es18 -i

lspci | grep au -i

- kan je de uitvoer hier laten zien? (als je geen uitvoer krijgt dan lijkt het erop dat ubuntu de geluidskaart helemaal niet detecteert).

Bij alsamixer kreeg ik een hoop schuifjes en bj naam stond ESS1869 dus dat klopt wel. Ik heb nu alle schuifjes rond 70 procent zitten en ga nu rebooten

- Ok, edit het snd-es18xx bestandje dat je gemaakt had:

- in:

- save & exit. Reboot. Kan je dan weer de uitvoer van :

- laten zien? (Lijkt erop dat er een hardware conflict is, het enige wat waarschijnlijk nodig is , is de juiste instellingen vinden. Dat kan even duren, maar het gaat wel lukken denk ik )

- Ok, dus de kaart wordt helemaal niet automatisch herkent. Probeer nu de module steeds handmatig te configureren, met een iets aangepaste instelling. Wat erg handig zou zijn is als je in de bios informatie kan vinden over de kaart: poort, interrupt, dma, etc., maar van wat ik ervan begrijp is de bios op die laptop niet zomaar toegankelijk(?).

- Voeg eerst de module toe aan /etc/modules , zodat hij automatisch geladen wordt:

sudo nano /etc/modules

- en voeg "snd-es18xx" toe (zonder aanhalingstekens). Save & exit.

- Vervolgens weer:

sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/snd-es18xx

- En verander de regel:

options snd-es18xx index=0

- in:

options snd-es18xx index=0 isapnp=0 port=0x220 irq=5 dma1=1

- save & exit. Reboot. Kijk dan weer met :

dmesg | grep es18 -i

lspci | grep au -i

- of er uitvoer is. Krijg je weer een melding als: "es18xx: [0x220] ESS chip not found", probeer dan een andere poort dan 0x220, etc, etc.  De mogelijke waardes zijn: 0x220,0x240,0x260 (zie hieronder).

- In de links die je hebt gegeven wordt ook gesproken dat je eventueel een andere driver kan proberen (sb), maar ik geloof niet dat die zomaar beschikbaar is.*

- Kijk ook eens in de uitvoer van:

sudo lspci -vv

sudo lshw

- of er iets te vinden is over de kaart. (Als je wilt kan je het ook hier laten zien.)

Ik heb ook een xp (lite) installatie op een schijf staan die er vroeger altijd in zat. Deze heeft wel geluid. Kan ik hieruit die waardes halen?? (irq enz.)

Ik heb de waardes in mijn xp installatie gevonden.

IRQ = 10
DMA1 = 00
DMA2 = 01

En er stond 3 keer I/O bereik met de waardes:
0240 - 024F
0388 - 038B
0330 - 0331

Is dit hetzelfde als mpu-port. Of is dit nuttig?

Edit: Hij ziet de kaart dan niet meer. Dus die andere instelling leek beter. Maar geeft nog steeds geen geluid (bij bijde instellingen nog niks).

Ok, als je het nog niet zat bent: ik kwam de volgende pagina tegen:

- Probeer dus:

options snd-es18xx index=0

- Of eventueel

options snd-es18xx index=0 enable=1 port=0x220 fm_port=0x388
mpu_port=0x300 irq=5 dma1=0 dma2=1

(maar dat komt als het goed is op hetzelfde neer, vanwege het ontbreken van isapnp=0)

- Save & exit. Reboot tot in het Grub menu.

- Het gaat er in bovenstaande link om, om op te starten met een kernelparameter: acpi=noirq en/of pci=biosirq. Je doet dat door de laptop op te starten tot in het Grub menu. Selecteer dan de Ubuntu-opstart regel, en druk op e, selecteer vervolgens de tweede regel ("kernel /boot/vmlinuz............") en druk weer op e.

- Je ziet dan een regel eindigend met kernelparameters, waarschijnlijk "ro quiet splash" (als er iets anders staat; noteren die hap ). Voeg daar dan " acpi=noirq pci=biosirq" aan toe (Zonder aanhalingstekens, en er moet steeds een spatie tussen de parameters. De reeds aanwezige parameters gewoon laten staan, in het bijzonder "ro".) Druk dan op enter en vervolgens op b om te booten.

- Check of er geluid is (zorg wel dat de volume kanalen open staan, bijv. via het "alsamixer" commando).

- Check weer de uitvoer van:

dmesg | grep es18 -i

lspci | grep au -i

- En ook van:

dmesg | grep pnp -i

lspnp -vv

- Voor het laatste commando zal je waarschijnlijk eerst pnpbios-tools moeten installeren. Dus:

sudo apt-get install pnpbios-tools

lspnp -vv

- Is er weer geen geluid (en geen bijzondere uitvoer), probeer dan te booten met alleen de acpi=noirq parameter.

- Lukt ook dat niet, herhaal dan met acpi=off i.p.v. acpi=noirq. Let dan goed op dat de processorventilator draait (de kans is aanwezig dat de ventilator dan niet wil draaien. die kans is zeer klein, ook vanwege de link hierboven waar geen problemen waren, maar het is slim om goed op te letten).

- Zijn er problemen, gewoon rebooten (en alles zal weer bij het oude zijn: het opstarten met kernelparameters werkt maar tijdelijk).

- Indien het goed werkt, dan moeten de kernel parameter blijvend worden ingesteld (eenvoudig klusje, maar dat zien we dan wel weer).


N.B. het opstarten met acpi=noirq en/of pci=biosirq is een methode om de juiste instellingen uit de bios te lezen (alleen nodig bij buggy, niet-standaard biossen).
