Hoi,

Ik post ook maar weer 'ns iets.

Het gebeurt mij erg vaak dat m'n systeem blijft 'hangen'. Vaak gewoon tijdens het navigeren tussen mappen. Alleen de aanwijzer van de muis doet het dan  nog, verder reageert 'ie nergens meer op. Soms kan ik na CTRL+BACKSPACE weer inloggen, andere keren werkt alleen het lang ingedrukt houden van de uit-knop van de PC.

Ik had dit probleem al een tijdje in Dapper, ik hoopte dat een clean install wat zou oplossen, maar helaas hij doet het nog steeds (nu in Edgy).

Zijn er mensen met soortgelijke ervaringen?
Of iemand met een idee waar het aan zou kunnen liggen?
Of (nog beter) iemand met een oplossing?

Zou het aan de driver voor de grafische kaart kunnen liggen?
Ik heb een laptop met 'n nVidia GeForce FX, maar heb daar nog geen speciale driver voor geïnstalleerd, omdat alles gewoon lijkt te werken.

lspci|grep VGA in de terminal geeft het type graf. kaart.

waarsch. kun je de fx gewoon via:
 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia
installeren, waarbij je via de synaptic de juiste restricted modules installeert.

Bedankt, ik krijg nu een nVidia scherm bij het opstarten. Ik weet dat ik dat kan uitzetten, maar ik laat het maar zo. Mocht het scherm dan niet meer verschijnen na een kernel update, dan weet ik meteen dat de driver opnieuw geínstalleerd moet worden.

Nu maar hopen dat dit de oplossing is voor m'n vastlopers. Zo niet, dan moet ik Suse maar 'ns proberen. Daar is m'n zwager zeer over te spreken.

Mocht iemand in de tussentijd nog andere ideeën hebben over waarom het scherm zomaar kan bevriezen, dan lees ik dat graag.

Gisteren bevroor m'n scherm terwijl ik in OOo Calc werkte. Dit werd voorafgegaan door het steeds trager bewegen van het werkblad bij het naar beneden scrollen (niet met de scroll balk, maar met de pijltjestoets.

Misschien brengt dat nog iemand op een idee.

btw, waarom wordt zowat ieder woord dat ik hier intik onderlijnd alsof het verkeerd gespeld is?

Heb je in firefox de engelse spellcheck aangezet of zo?

Hmm.. toch weer een bevroren scherm. Zelf crtl alt backspace werkte niet.
Dit begint wel vervelend te worden.

Zijn er geen mensen met verstand van zaken die aan een log-bestand o.i.d. kunnen zien waardoor het geheugen steeds volloopt (of wat de oorzaak van een bevroren scherm verder ook mag zijn)?

je zou tijdens het werken met applicatie/programma's eens een TOP kunnen doen. =top= in de terminal, en de uitkomst hier posten. ik hen dit probleem ook wel eens gehad, en bleek mijn processor 100% te draaien....(door een proces)

Tnx, ik zal het thuis 'ns proberen. Kun je TOP laten monitoren en dan doorwerken tot het misgaat, of krijg je met TOP alleen een momentopname?

Er zijn toch ook log-bestanden? Kun je daar het processorgebruik niet in zien?

=top= /procesbeheer en systemlog zijn de manieren om in eerste instantie te kijken of er iets aan de hand is.
top kun je laten draaien op de achtergrond. zelf heb ik =gkrellm= als systemmonitor.

Gisteravond twee vastlopers gehad. Zelfs CTRL ALT F6 werkt dan niet, dus ik kan geen TOP output posten van het moment dat het systeem vastzit.

Ik vermoed dat gisteren een andere oorzaak had dan normaal. Ik was namelijk XP aan het installeren in VMWare player. TOP gaf aan (toen alles nog gewoon draaide) dat VMWare player zo nu en dan een CPU gebruik wist te bereiken van 111%.

vanmiddag een vastloper.
gisteren een nieuwe install gedaan (zie ander topic)
Nog geen aparte nvidia drivers geinstalleerd enzo want vond het beeld en de leesbaarheid wel goed eigenlijk.

Hierboven de heb ik de uitkomst gepost van desmeg, voor zover ik weet een log van het opstarten. Hopelijk heb ik de code tags juist gehanteerd. (edit: nee dus, maar nu wel)

Zou iemand hier eens naar willen kijken, met het oog op mijn voortdurende vastlopers? Ik vind Ubuntu echt geweldig en wil liever niet terug naar W******, maar ik kan niet blijven werken met een systeem dat alsmaar bevriest.

Ik heb geen idee hoe ik de mededelingen in dit log zou moeten interpreteren, maar een paar dingetjes vallen mij wel op:

btw: ik zie tijdens het opstarten steeds meer witte tekst voorbij komen, maar wel wat te snel om te lezen. Ik krijg dus wel de indruk dat het systeem bepaalde klachten heeft over de staat waarin het verkeert. Graag hulp.
