Xsane kan niet scannen

Ik zit met een soortgelijk probleem.

Het ligt niet aan de printer, scannen vanuit WindowsXP of vanaf een laptop met Windows7 gaat gesmeerd.

Scannen met 'simple scan' gaat prima, maar simple scan heeft weinig opties. Een pdf bijvoorbeeld is geen echte pdf, want kan niet gelezen worden door Adobe Reader.
Het gekke is dat het ineens begon. Ineens lukte scannen met Xsane niet meer, printen gaat prima,
[sudo scanimage -L] levert een keurige output op.

Tijdlang bezig geweest met probleem van vollopende HD. Schuldige: timeshift zie https://forum.ubuntu-nl.org/index.php?topic=106484.msg1033734#msg1033734
Ik dacht even dat nu misschien het scanprobleem ook opgelost was. Want de printer reageert wel even nadat ik Xsane een scan-opdracht heb gegeven, maar dan gebeurt er niets meer maar komt de melding van een communicatiefout. Xsane ziet de printer dus wel, maar er gaat wat anders fout.

sudo apt-get install -fLeverde alleen op dat er wat overbodige Linux-headers verwijderd mochten worden. Voor de rest bleef het probleem bestaan.

Maar hoe doe ik dat?? Programmabeheer kan die niet vinden?

Voor mijn Xubuntu zijn beide pakketten beschikbaar in Synaptic. Ik heb ze overigens niet geïnstalleerd en ik kan gewoon scannen met Xsane, met een Epson. Ik zie zo gauw niet welke Ubuntu(-variant) je hebt draaien, misschien ligt daar je probleem.

Ik draai Linux Mint 19.
Zoals al hierboven al aangegeven, het heeft gewerkt onder Linux 19 maar zomaar ineens lukte het niet meer. Geen idee waarom. Na een update?

python3-dev is een ander verhaal, mijn programmabeheer (synaptic) biedt 8 varianten. Welke moet ik hebben? Geen van alle zegt me iets.

Python3-dev geïnstalleerd vanaf genoemde site. Maar xsane scant nog steeds niks. Zie bijlage .
Ik zie wel onderin de melding van de printer dat scantaak voltooid is maar op de printer zelf staat nog steeds dat ie aan het scannen is. De communicatie klopt dus niet.

Behalve drie errors van optionele dependencies (wat dat ook mogen wezen? nederlands woord?)
zag ik ook deze waarschuwing: "warning: 22-19 version is not supported. Using 22-18.2 versions dependencies to verify and install..." Gaat dat over de hplip-versie???

Ik zit te kijken in de output van

Daarin staat:

Als ik dit bestand wil lezen, kan ik dat niet. Ik heb de rechten niet, alleen 'root' heeft die. Welke rechten heeft xsane als die dit bestand wil lezen? Is dit een spoor?

Die xsane starten in het terminalvenster had alleen als doel, om te zie of er een foutmelding verscheen in dat terminalvenster. Wat die ppd file betreft, check de output van

  ls -l /etc/cups/ppd/HP-Photosmart* [Enter]

Alleen de root kan die ppd file schrijven en lezen. Ik heb hier ook zo een ppd file. Alleen met een ander nummer. Want ik heb een HP-Photosmart 6510. Als ik die ppd file check met Thunar > Eigenschappen > Rechten, dan zie ik dat groep lp alleen-lezen toegang heeft.

Reset eventueel de instellingen van xsane. Hoe dat te doen staat onder andere in deze http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/Xsane

Doe eventueel ook nog

sudo apt purge xsane && sudo apt install xsane [Enter]

Hetgeen xsane verwijderd en weer opnieuw installeert.

Ik heb de instellingen van xsane gereset met

rm -rf ~/.sane/xsane/
En hij deed het weer!!
