Ik ben Windows plots kwijt, terwijl ik er gisteren nog inkon. Wanneer ik opstart verschijnt het bootscherm met Ubuntu en Windows als optie, maar als ik deze aanklik krijg ik de volgende tekst;

'Minimal bash-like lin is supported For the firts word Tab list possible command completions etc. etc.

Wat moet ik hiermee aan en kan ik Windows nog terugvinden?

Maar ik snap je vraag toch niet helemaal, wat kun je hieruit opmaken?

De output van:
sudo fdisk -lin een terminal en vervolgens de inhoud van de bestanden fstab (te vinden in de map "/etc") en menu.lst (te vinden in de map /boot/grub)

bijvoorbeeld.

Tja, Ubuntu zit blijkbaar op /dev/sda3 (de derde primaire partitie) en dat zal ook wel kloppen want Ubuntu start blijkbaar normaal op.

En in je "menu.lst" is te lezen dat Windows op /dev/sda1 (de eerste primaire partitie) zou moeten staan.

De verwijzing in grub naar Windows (hd0,0) wijst daar ook op want da's hetzelfde maar dan anders geschreven: de eerste partitie op de eerste schijf.

Maar zonder de ook gevraagde output vansudo fdisk -ltasten we helaas nog steeds in het duister over wat nou echt en waar op de schijf staat dus..........

Tja, ik heb er een tijdje op zitten studeren maar kan eigenlijk niets vinden dat niet klopt. Grub zoekt de Windows startbestanden op de aangegeven plaats maar vindt daar blijkbaar niets. Maar waarom?

(Hallo medeforummers: zie ik iets over het hoofd?)

Je partitietabel is wel een chaos zoals fdisk ook meldt maar dat zou eigenlijk het probleem niet mogen veroorzaken.

Het enige afwijkende dat ik verder zie is dat je Windowspartitie (/dev/sda1) op sector 7 van de schijf begint en normaal is dat sector 1 maar ik weet eerlijk gezegd niet of dat het probleem veroorzaakt of kan veroorzaken, geen idee. Mogelijk maakt het helemaal niets uit.

Heb je iets aan je systeem veranderd (schijfindeling, configuratie of zo) waarna het probleem is ontstaan of is het zomaar ineens spontaan gebeurd? Meestal gebeuren dingen namelijk niet zomaar vanzelf.

Je zou (zomaar op de gok hoor) grub eens opnieuw kunnen installeren en hopen dat dat je probleem oplost.

Kun je de Windows mappen/bestanden wel zien vanuit Ubuntu?
Als GRUB opnieuw installeren niet helpt zou je vanaf de Windows cd op kunnen starten in de recovery console en dan de MBR eens repareren. Daarna dan GRUB weer opnieuw installeren. Pas wel op! Zorg dat je backups hebt.
Wie de gemakkelijkste weg niet zoekt is een luiaard. :)

Bij onze Engelse buren was ik ff op het forum aan het rondneuzen en daar had iemand het ook over zo'n probleem. Lijkt alsof GRUB naar z'n mallemoer is. Mss ff opnieuw installeren van GRUB? Desnoods gewoon SuperGrub gebruiken :)

Alles op DVD RW bakken wat bewaard moet worden en via die kleine 3 Gb  windows herstelprogramma.. want dat is het meestal..
soms moet je later ook Linux her installeren.. dus eerst bakken op DVD RW, kost niets want ze zijn herbruikbaar en ik heb elke week een even of oneven die ik ververs...
Dus ik heb een backup van 1 of 2 weken oud!

Dit is meestal sneller en foutlozer dan knoeien aan dat gammele  glas in lood raam wat het logo toch(t) voorstelde?

Hoe gebruik ik Supergrub? Ik heb de Live cd, maar wat ik precies moet doen om Grub te herstellen, of belangrijker, om nog niet meer te verprutsen? Het lijkt erop dat Ubuntu 8.04 de Winhoospartitie niet meer kan vinden, terwijl Windows wel in Grub staat.
